Job Title: Travel RN - Emergency Department
Job Location: Greensboro, NC
Duration: 3-month contract with the possibility of extension
Schedule: 3x12 hours, 7-7, Both Day and Night Shift
Required Qualification:
· Minimum 2-year experience required, first-time travelers -- OK!
· BLS, ACLS, NIH, and PALS required.
· EPIC required.
· General Emergency Department-Combined Adult/Pedi, Non-Trauma Emergency Department
· Blood Product Administration, Central line care/management, Phlebotomy, Starting IVs
· CPAP/BiPAP, Interpretation of ABGs, Ventilated patients
· Triage exp.
· Ratios - 1:5
· Continuous IV sedation, IV vasopressors, Procedural Sedation Administration
Roles and Responsibilities:
· Assessment skills: Has competent knowledge of all the normal stages of growth and development from Pediatric to Geriatric and delivers patient care appropriately. Performs thorough assessments that are systematic, comprehensive, and accurate.
· Clinical Skills: Consistently demonstrates competent clinical skills. Performs direct patient care activities in support of patient care delivery and team concept. Provides competent and appropriate nursing care to the population of the unit. Demonstrates knowledge and skill in emergency equipment and procedures.
· Documentation: Maintains complete and accurate documentation. Demonstrates knowledge of documentation guidelines. Assumes primary responsibility for documenting components of the nursing process and patients' progress toward meeting outcomes in the patient’s chart including patient education.
· Professionalism: Demonstrates professional practice responsibility. Demonstrates knowledge of policies and procedures and can identify areas for clinical and professional growth.
· Patient Satisfaction: Consistently responds to patients/families and co-workers in a professional, courteous, positive manner to promote an environment where the patient and family are at the center and the patient care team works cooperatively toward their goals and objectives. Maintains confidentiality according to HIPAA guidelines.
· Safety: Consistently follows the National Patient Safety Goals including following Universal Protocol and identifying patients utilizing 2 patient identifiers. Demonstrates use of safe transfer techniques and proper body mechanics for self, and patients.
· Unit-Specific Job Function: Demonstrates knowledge of surgical patients' conditions/diagnoses, procedures, and equipment. Individualizes patient care according to the procedure and type of anesthesia across the continuum of care. Assesses patient reaction and understanding of procedure/instructions.
· Responsibility and Accountability: Contributes to the perioperative team by assuming responsibility and accountability for directing patient care by prioritizing the care of patients depending on their needs and any changes in their condition.
· Patient Education and Chart Completion: Assesses patient's understanding of surgical procedure/instructions, actively including the patient and family members in teaching. Performs pre-operative and postoperative assessment and education.
· Duties Specific to PAT RN: Supports the completion of patient testing promptly. Evaluate pre-admission Testing (PAT) orders for appropriateness and potential omissions based on proposed surgery, patient age, and current state of health.
