Job Title: Speech Language Pathologist
Job Location: Dallas, TX 75231
Job Duration: 8 months (with possible extension)
Shift: 5 days a week, Day Shift
Job Responsibilities:
· Assessment and Diagnosis: Conduct comprehensive evaluations of speech, language, cognitive-communication, and swallowing skills.
· Utilize standardized tests and clinical observations to diagnose speech and language disorders.
· Treatment Planning: Develop individualized treatment plans based on the assessment results.
· Set specific, measurable goals for each patient to improve communication or swallowing abilities.
· Therapy and Intervention: Deliver therapy sessions tailored to the patient’s needs, including exercises, activities, and use of assistive devices.
· Address various disorders such as articulation, fluency, voice, language comprehension, and expression.
· Education and Counseling: Educate patients, families, and caregivers on communication disorders and management strategies.
· Provide counseling to support the emotional and psychological aspects of communication disorders.
· Collaboration: Work with other healthcare professionals, educators, and families to ensure comprehensive care.
· Collaborate with doctors, occupational therapists, physical therapists, and educators to create a holistic treatment approach.
Certification Requirements:
· Must possess the Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech-Language Pathology (CCC-SLP) from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA).
· Applicants without this certification (e.g., SLPA’s, CF’s) will not be accepted.
Skills:
· Strong assessment and diagnostic skills.
· Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
· Ability to work independently and as part of an interdisciplinary team.
· Bilingual skills are a plus, providing an advantage in meeting the needs of a diverse student population.
Commitment:
· Must be available for full-time 40 hours/week employment.
· Must be flexible and willing to work throughout the district. Specific locations within the district, particularly in South Dallas (south of I-30), will be assigned. A district map will be provided during the interview for reference.
· Bilingual Opportunities:
· There are openings available for bilingual SLPs, which may offer additional opportunities for those proficient in more than one language.
