Maintenance - Engineer

The Maintenance Engineer will assist in presenting the best of the physical attributes that the hotel has to offer, ensuring an excellent experience for guests and a safe, efficient work environment for all team members through proper servicing, maintenance, and equipping of the property.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Approaches all encounters with guests and employees in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.
  • Performs the day-to-day operations of the Maintenance Department.
  • Observes systems or facilities to determine maintenance or repairs that need to be performed.
  • Assesses building systems to plan work assignments and project schedules.
  • Completes maintenance and repair work correctly and in a timely manner. 
  • Runs daily Out of Order report and develops resolutions for rooms returning to service.
  • Processes and completes work orders, with an emphasis on organization and tracking progress, including a full history of each room.
  • Maintains Preventive Maintenance schedule and tracks progress in each room.
  • Completes and maintains all Equipment Data Sheets for all equipment throughout the hotel.
  • Obtains and stays current on all required certifications when applicable.
  • Maintains a tool inventory and storage inventory.
  • Coordinates all required shuttle maintenance, when applicable.
  • Stays proficient in all fire and life safety training and maintaining all fire and life safety inspections.
  • Responsible for the execution of pool maintenance and grounds upkeep, overseeing the proper use of chemicals.
  • Observes all safety protocols, including maintaining safe keeping of key cards, and being aware of suspicious activities, reporting any concerns, no matter how small.
  • Generates a weekly list of projects in the sequence of priority with forecasted occupancy and hotel’s labor model in mind.
  • Walks halls each morning and evening checking for any building issues and handling needed work properly.
  • Coordinates with Front Desk to provide up to the minute information on maintenance work status.
  • Maintains expenses within budget guidelines or better, payroll, scheduling, and maintenance department costs.
  • Provides the appropriate support to contribute to achieving the monthly Brand Standard Satisfaction ratings and passing the regularly scheduled Quality Assurance Inspections.
  • Ensures work done by others is inspected personally before signing off upon completion.
  • Responds to guest requests.
  • Maintains regular attendance in compliance with the hotel’s standards, as required by scheduling which will vary according to the needs of the hotel.
  • Complies at all times with the hotel’s standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.
  • Ensures compliance with all Brand Quality Assurance Standards.
  • Assists in special project work by other departments, such as mattress turning, deep cleaning, carpet cleaning, upholstery cleaning, etc., to ensure high standards of cleanliness and comfort to the guest.
  • Ensures proper chemical usage according to OSHA Safety and Health Management System guidelines.
  • Follows property OSHA/HAZCOM procedures.
  • Wears appropriate brand required uniform and name tag during all scheduled shifts.
  • Performs all other duties assigned from time to time.

Required Skills/Abilities:

· Detail oriented and thorough

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • One year of maintenance experience required

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods standing and walking, and frequently pulling, pushing, and bending
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds at a time
