JOB TITLE: OPWDD Respite Care Provider CLASSIFICATION: Peer Diem, Non-Exempt PROGRAM/DEPARTMENT: Guest Respite, In Home Respite IMMEDIATE SUPERVISOR: Respite Supervisor POSITION SUMMARY: Give guardians and care providers of people with disabilities temporary relief from their responsibilities by offering respite services. Maintain the safety, well-being and human rights of the people we serve. Assist the people we serve by offering instruction and verbal coaching in self-care in food preparation, community integration, social interaction, positive life choices, school work, and other areas of daily living. Facilitate meaningful activities for people we serve by planning and implementing games, crafts and other projects. Ensure safe and effective behavior management, responds to atypical/emergent circumstances by following established procedures and exercising good judgment. Provide documentation for rendered services. QUALIFICATIONS:Minimum Education, Training & Experience: High school diploma or equivalent Driver’s license, acceptable driving record and dependable transportation Preferred Education, Training & Experience: Experience working with people with developmental disabilities Functional knowledge of community recreational, social and educational resources Knowledge of crafts and recreational activities ESSENTIAL SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good interpersonal skills Ability to promote an atmosphere of fun and socialization Ability to acquire and maintain CPI certification Ability to appropriately utilize approved CPI techniques in behavior management Ability and willingness to routinely transport in an agency vehicle Ability to meet all OPWDD physical plant requirements SALARY: $16 per hour starting rate Full Job Description Available Upon Request Benefits – Intandem Contact us for more Information An equal opportunity employer.
