Description

SUMMARY:

The Employee Benefits Compliance Manager will serve as a strategic resource for the Employee Benefits division, providing advice, information, and guidance, on regulatory compliance matters and mitigation strategies, to better support INSURICA clients.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Work directly with all EB Teams, ensuring legal and regulatory compliance changes/updates are accurately provided to clients
  • Serve as the subject matter expert for all EB Teams, assisting with any client compliance questions or concerns
  • Continually develop and maintain a thorough, current working knowledge of federal and state regulations that impact the Employee Benefits industry including, but not limited to, the Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act, Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), State privacy statutes, including the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), Controlling the Assault of Non-Solicited Pornography and Marketing (CAN-SPAM), General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), National Association of Insurance Commissions (NAIC) Data Security Model Law
  • Coordinate with outside compliance resources, as needed, for client assistance
  • Monitor legislative changes that impact the Employee Benefits industry and communicate changes, as needed, across the INSURICA organization
  • Keep required organizational documents current, based on changes to statutes and regulations (i.e. client notices, Incident Reports, Business Associate Agreements, etc.)
  • Brief clients (virtually or in person) on compliance issues, as needed
  • Build relationships with industry networks (i.e. NAIC, CIAB, Assurex, Big I, etc.) to understand the resources available to stay current on regulations
  • Perform all actions relating to customers and companies in a manner that will avoid issues involving potential errors and omissions
  • Participate in seminars and other training to maintain required licenses and for knowledge and skill development

Qualifications


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong knowledge of federal and state regulatory requirements that impact Employee Benefits
  • Ability to travel both locally, and overnight, as needed
  • Analytical and organized, with a strong attention to detail
  • Excellent presentation skills, with the ability to manage and influence others
  • Ability to review, interpret, and effectively communicate complicated and abstract information
  • Strong PC skills, with a focus on the Microsoft Office suite of products (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, etc.) and the ability to effectively utilize agency management systems
  • Ability to work within a fast-paced, changing priority environment
  • Self-motivated, with the initiative to prioritize and be self-directed
  • Regular and punctual attendance is required
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally, and in writing
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with both colleagues and managers, across all levels
  • Ability to promote, and maintain a team environment, willing to find accommodating solutions for our customers, companies, and the Agency
  • Ability to successfully adhere to company policies and procedures, as well as maintain strict confidentiality

WORKING CONDITIONS AND REASONABLE ACCOMMODATIONS:

  • Fast-paced, multi-tasking, office environment with periodic high disruption and changing priorities
  • Ability to perform approximately 80% sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and negligible force frequently
  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds occasionally
  • Requires operation of a computer workstation, including keyboard and video display
  • All requirements may be modified to reasonably accommodate physical or mental impairment
