Job Summary

Responsible for the strategic coordination and execution of client marketing, servicing, risk management and/or sales activities, following established industry and company guidelines and meeting all performance requirements regarding production, quality and ensuring that no liability associated with errors and omissions occur. Primarily responsible for managing a book of business and increasing account retention, and capable of resolving the most complex customer service problems, showing the ability for critical thinking in taking the next step in the best interest of the client, carrier partner, and IOA. May also be responsible for significant account expansion and cross-selling, while others are principally focused on client retention. Actively seeks to grow IOA business, including identifying and acting on sales opportunities, and a resource to our account on the insurance brokerage business and assigned client’s needs.

What You’ll Do:
  • Maintain a high degree of technical competence and industry/market expertise
  • Exercise discretion and independent judgment to ensure beneficial outcomes for clients and IOA
  • Effectively manage assigned client relationships as a representative of IOA, including conducting one-on-one client meetings, preparing and presenting periodic account summaries, recommending coverages and policy changes and negotiating/closing new business and renewals
  • Serve as an information/communication conduit between Account Team when applicable
  • Assist in directing day-to-day activities and workflow assigned to their team that are performed on assigned book of business which include delegation and prioritization of assignment/task, communication on performance expectations, and monitoring execution to ensure performance requirements and timelines are met
  • Direct day-to-day activities and workflow of the New Business Coordinator including making work assignments, delegating tasks, communicating performance expectations, monitoring execution to ensure performance requirements are met, and recommending corrective actions when needed
  • Regularly interact with clients in a professional and timely manner – this could include on-site client visits to promote customer understanding of policies, generate retention and cross-sell additional products
  • Manage and execute of a variety of customer service, account management, risk management, and value-added service including, but not limited to, account activity, client advocacy, policy administration, and insurance placement, claims administration, claims advocacy; coverage/loss analysis, risk analysis, contract review for insurability; billing activity, review policy forms/endorsements/ audits, identify errors and facilitate corrective actions and cancellation/ reinstatements
  • Manage policy expirations for existing clients and works proactively to ensure appropriate steps are taken to facilitate renewals and ensures all new and renewal insurance policies are bound, billed and issued accurately and delivered to the Client/Insured within the required timeframe
  • Manage new business and policy renewal process independently or in conjunction with their Senior Account Associate including but not limited to:
    • Responsible for the sales of new business referrals
    • Conducting client research and gathering complete underwriting information
    • Conducting a loss run analysis
    • Preparing complete and accurate submissions including Accords and/or supplemental form; send out to the market and / or perform online rating as required
    • Evaluating and negotiating coverages and pricing
    • Presenting proposals
    • Customizes insurance program to suit individual customers, often covering a variety of risks.
    • Quote and binding coverage and complying with any subjectivity as required by the carrier, Surplus
    • Lines Association and/or IOA
    • Invoicing and executing premium finance agreement when applicable
    • Diligently follow up for Policy Issuance
    • Review all policies, identifying any discrepancies and ensuring that all necessary changes are submitted to and issued by the carrier
    • Maintaining accurate and complete policy/transaction detail, schedules/summaries of insurance
    • Maintains agency management system, other agency supported systems and carrier/vendor online platforms, ensuring all data entered is complete, clearly presented and well documented, accurate, and up-to-date
  • Monitor and maintains activity/suspense, taking necessary action to ensure completion within the required time frame
  • Maintain a high degree of technical competence and industry/market expertise

  • Deliver excellent service at all times, including proactively anticipating needs, maintaining frequent and professional communication, and responding quickly to service requests
  • Continually stay abreast of all company policies and procedures to ensure proper knowledge, execution, and compliance of standard operating procedures
  • Continually seek to improve individual and team performance, including identifying, communicating, and adopting best practices

  • Will be required to maintain Continuing Education credits to maintain an active status level of insurance licensure.
  • Regular and consistent attendance is expected and a necessary component to the job
  • Perform other duties as assigned
What We’re Looking For:
 5 years of industry experience; or 7 years of sales, marketing, or relationship management experience
 Possesses in-depth knowledge of the insurance brokerage business and assigned clients’ needs
 Has the stature and expertise needed to cover the most substantial and/or most complex accounts
 All required active licensing
 Critical thinking and decision-making skills
 Exceptional customer service skills
 Excellent multi-tasking, organizational, and decision-making skills

 Outstanding verbal / written communication skills
 Ability to perform substantial work volumes with high degrees of accuracy
 PC proficiency, including basic knowledge of MS Office Suite
