Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS) is Hiring a Paralegal Near Richburg, SC

Position Summary: The Paralegal will assist General Counsel by providing a variety of clerical and contract research support services including contract review and management document preparation and review; research, investigation, and fact checking; and other preparation and duties as needed. 

Supervisory Responsibilities: ​This job has no supervisory responsibilities. ​ 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform the following satisfactorily; other duties may be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions. 

  • Meets with General Counsel and other professionals to discuss assigned contracts or projects. 

  • Review a variety of legal documents as assigned, primarily contracts.

  • Researches and analyzes details within documents and provides written and verbal analysis to attorneys General Counsel. 

  • Prepares, organizes, stores, and retrieves the contents of contracts or other documents for General Counsel.

  • Develops and maintains records and documents.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Education/Experience: 

​​Associate's degree or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.​ 

Language Ability: 

​​Read, analyze and interpret business, professional, technical or governmental documents. Write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals. Effectively present information and respond to questions from managers, customers and the public.​ 

Mathematical Ability: 

​​Calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.​ 

Reasoning Ability: 

​​Solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.​ 

Computer Skills: 

Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software. 

Certificates and Licenses: 

Paralegal certificate preferred. 

Work Environment: The work environment is remote with the rare case of meeting with General Counsel in person a few times annually.
