In partnership with the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), IALR will participate in the Community College Engineering Pathway Internship Program for the Summer of 2024. The program seeks to create opportunities for community college students to gain workplace-relevant knowledge and skills in the mechanical engineering and technology workforce through on-the-job learning experiences.
Each internship requires 224 hours* with a weekly time commitment of 28 hours, representing an eight (8) week internship term. This is a paid experience with professional expectations. Interns will receive a $3,250 stipend, paid semimonthly (stipend is subject to tax). The IALR Mentor and intern will set a detailed work schedule during the intern orientation.
IALR reserves the right to modify and/or cancel the internship program. Modifications could include a shortened timeframe with a pro-rated adjustment to the paid compensation, alternate assignments, and/or adjustments to work-site location. Internships are primarily in-person. The IALR Internship Program does not provide local housing or a housing allowance.
To be considered for this internship, you must be a current participant in the ASME Community College Engineering Pathways Internship Program.
INTERNS MUST COMPLETE THEIR 224 TOTAL HOUR TIME COMMITMENT BY AUGUST 11, 2024. INTERNS ARE ALLOWED ONE WEEK OFF DURING THE PROGRAM FOR UNPAID VACATION (total time frame extended to 9 weeks). EXCEPT FOR THIS ONE WEEK, THE 8-WEEK INTERNSHIP MUST BE SERVED IN CONSECUTIVE WEEKS.
