Inspired Living at Ocoee is Hiring a Resident Care Supervisor Near Ocoee, FL

Summary/Objective

Resident Care Supervisors (RCS) will provide high-quality routine care in a manner conducive to the comfort and safety of residents in accordance with federal, state, and local regulations and within the established policies and procedures of the Community. RCS are delegated the responsibility of carrying out assigned duties by the Health & Wellness Director, and/or Executive Director to ensure that the highest degree of quality, compassionate resident care is maintained at all times. Care Supervisors are customer service and care experts who may interact with leadership, families, vendors, guests, and other associates while displaying exceptional professionalism. Generally speaking, Care Supervisors are supervisors on the floor during periods where the HWD and/or ED are not in the community; however, there may be times when a Care Supervisor is assigned to work at the same time, or as an overlap with the HWD or ED.

Essential Functions

1. Demonstrates professionalism, tact, and exceptional performance under pressure.

2. Creates an atmosphere of compassion, optimism, warmth, resident interest, and ensures a calm environment throughout the Community.

3. Ensures the highest quality care for residents as determined by the Health and Wellness Director.

4. Responsible for smooth transitions at shift change and delivering next shift to care specialists.

5. May supervise self-administration of medication and treatments as prescribed by the health care provider. During the med pass, the Care Supervisor observes resident’s response to existing treatment plan, is aware of prominent medication interactions and side effects. Observes residents for occurrence of side effects and notifies supervisor. May communicate with pharmacies and or health care providers as necessary to ensure that residents in the Community have medications as ordered and must document accordingly.

6. Assists with managing the medication program, in conjunction with clinical leadership team; tasks to include medication reconciliation, pharmacy communication, drug destruction (where allowed by regulations), medication cart audits, medication pass observations, and other duties as assigned by clinical leadership team related to med management program.

7. Documents an accurate accounting of leisure activities, incidents and observations, and any changes in physical or emotional condition of each resident.

8. Acts as supervisor on duty, responding to resident needs, supervising front line staff, responding to family inquiries or concerns and reporting follow-up to management team.

9. Maintains confidentiality and privacy of resident care, procedures, documentation, and communicates with the resident and families professionally with dignity and respect for the resident’s rights and wishes.

10. Reports any resident abuse, accidents, or incidents immediately to supervisor, and state agencies as applicable

11. Reports changes in the resident’s condition to the clinical leadership and management team as soon as possible.

12. Reports all complaints and grievances made by residents, families, visiting individuals, agencies, etc. as well as unauthorized trips the resident makes outside the Community to a supervisor.

13. Reviews nurse call system/life safety reports and follows up on any outstanding calls as applicable.

14. Assists with caring for residents, including ADL care, in accordance to the residents’ evaluation and service plan.

15. Follows established safety precautions and observes, monitors, and intervenes or reports unsafe conditions in the Community. I.e., checking and reporting lightbulbs when they need to be replaced, changes in room temperature, etc.

16. Utilized TELS to place any needed work orders in system.

17. Reviews Resident Assessment and Plans of Care to residents’ conditions, etc. and explain each procedure to the resident as care is given; communicates changes in resident needs to clinical leadership team.

18. Follows established universal precautions and isolation procedures and reports any communicable or infectious disease contraction to the Clinical Leadership and management team.

19. Keeps resident’s personal articles off the floor, properly stored, and assist in identifying resident’s personal possessions on an on-going basis.

20. Keeps supply room, work areas, and equipment clean. May assist with medical supply inventory auditing, organization or storage rooms and communication of supply needs with clinical leadership and management team.

21. Assists residents in preparing for and/or engaging in meals.

22. Assists and participate with residents during activities, and social programs.

23. Other duties as assigned by management.

Certifications, Licenses, Education and Experience and other Special Requirements

Care Supervisors must hold a current med-tech licensure as well as a current certification for both CPR and First Aid. Current 6-Hour Med Tech certification may be provided. A High School Diploma or equivalent is required. A Care Specialist has a minimum of 2 years’ experience working in memory care and/or dementia, in an assisted living facility, or other health care facility. The care specialist should also possess exceptional communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal as well as strong planning and organizational skills. The Care Supervisor should also exhibit exceptional teamwork skills, bedside manner, infection control, and health promotion and maintenance. Utilization of Electronic Medication Record keeping is required.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping and crouching all day. The employee must frequently lift or move objects and patients weighing over 50 pounds. The noise level is moderate. Because the essential functions may require exposure to bodily functions and infectious waste, diseases, odors, and other situations associated with health care, including but not limited to exposure to AIDS, HIV and Hepatitis B viruses involving Risk Classification Categories 2 and 3**, environmental and safety conditions will fluctuate. To be qualified for the position of Care Partner, an applicant/employee will need to possess the ability to work in an environment conducive to caring for residents without posing a substantial safety or health threat to oneself or others.
