As the Accounts Receivable Specialist, your daily duties involve customer-facing interactions through calls and e-mails. For this reason, you must bring a customer service approach to your work. Your desire to provide excellent customer service should always inform how you interact with customers, colleagues, and vendors. 

You are the last step in the customer experience: payment. Your step is as important as all the others to maintain and secure future business. The tone of your communication cannot be stressed enough. Our client wishes to maintain and grow customer relationships. The customer must be at the center of your communication methods, both verbal and written. Follow-through is essential. Adhering consistently to the collection process is essential every single day. 

To thrive/succeed, you should have:

  • Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • Accounting or related degree is a plus
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Good people skills, ability to work in a team environment
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • High degree of ownership for projects, a sense of urgency, and strong follow-through
  • Excellent organizational skills, with strong attention to detail
  • Professionalism and dependability 
  • Ability to manage and complete multiple tasks on time
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products

Your responsibilities as the Accounts Receivable Specialist will include: 

  • professionally make outbound collection calls while maintaining and improving customer relationships
  • Ensure close follow-up with customers to ensure payment commitments are met
  • Communicate with store personnel and other departments to resolve customer disputes
  • Perform timely, accurate posting of cash receipts to customer accounts
  • Process virtual credit card payments received 
  • Respond promptly to customer queries and requests, including providing invoice copies, processing credit card payments, and updating account information
  • Manage communication from stores concerning order releases through account overrides
  • Make approved changes to customer accounts, such as updating contact information, adding notes for store personnel, advising on sales tax status and pricing
  • Contact customers about unapplied payments and credits
