Position Overview The Qualitative Research Consultant will contribute to longer-term growth of the Insight in Marketing brand by effective leadership of qualitative projects for clients. The role is responsible for the strategic development and execution of qualitative market research studies for assigned client needs. This person will work as the day-to-day project manager for multiple projects and is capable of planning and conducting all aspects of project work and client engagement independently. Consulting/Project Management/Qualitative Research
Design and conduct in-person and online qualitative research on a variety of marketing related topics including, but not limited to advertising, positioning, new product development and packaging
Partner with clients to identify clear, concise project objectives and appropriate qualitative research strategy to achieve clients’ goal
Lead and attend client meetings and presentations as needed
Anticipate and proactively address potential issues and/or challenges. Provide clients with ongoing counsel on issues that may arise
Partner with internal field management team to ensure successful execution of all qualitative projects
Collaborate with other qualitative or quantitative consultants on multi-phased or multi-approach research projects
Share perspective on areas of new product/service development with team and company leadership
Maintain an awareness of industry developments and techniques to further develop skills and knowledge.
Proactively share knowledge of new techniques, partners, etc. with broader IIM team.
Sales/Account Management
Work with sales to close opportunities by building rapport, understanding client needs, creating research designs and solutions, developing insightful proposals and responding to client objections
Support sales in the development of effective sales communications and targeted sales campaigns to generate new opportunities
Collaborate with sales, as appropriate, to expand the contact/relationships within existing accounts (e.g. asking for referrals or introductions to other brand leaders)
Build strong relationships with existing client teams and identify opportunities for additional work
Develop research methodologies and impactful proposals with the assistance of the sales enablement team
Partner with other IIM consultants as needed to craft research methods and proposal that meet client objectives
Follow IIM guidelines for opportunity management, project management & project reporting requirements including but not limited to, updated Project Tracking Tool and CRM database for leads, opportunities and projects
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, marketing research, psychology or social sciences; advanced degree preferred
5 years qualitative market research experience with extensive client-facing responsibility
Demonstrated skills in a market research environment with an advanced knowledge of qualitative market research techniques and industry practices
Fluent understanding of the overall qualitative research process including logistics, design, execution and implications
Proven contributor in the development and implementation of new qualitative approaches and structures
Identification and shaping of qualitative research engagements
Demonstrated leadership in the creation of customized discussion guides
Significant moderation experience
Experience synthesizing research findings, determining relevant implications and presenting results
Able to visualize and tell a story with data
Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook
