About the Role:
- The Data, AI and Genome Sciences (DAGS) department is seeking a Bioinformatician/Computational Biologist/Statistical Geneticist with expertise in large-scale whole exome/whole genome data analysis to join a dynamic team of computational biologists.
- The role involves working in the Early Discovery Genetics group within DAGS to identify and validate novel targets based on human genetics for therapeutic intervention in the drug discovery pipeline.
- Conduct large-scale whole exome/genome data analysis for gene-disease associations
- Utilize population-scale datasets for genotype/WES/WGS genetics data analysis
- Collaborate with Research Scientists to target disease mechanisms or pathways for therapeutic intervention
- Work on isolating compounds effective against disease targets - Collaborate with team members in an inclusive, integrated, and multidisciplinary work environment
- Communicate effectively and contribute to a team-oriented approach
- Minimum education required is a PhD/Doctoral degree from an accredited college/university in bioinformatics, statistics, genetics, computational biology, or related field.
- Foreign degrees must be evaluated for U.S equivalency.
- Required Skills: - 5 years of experience within academics or industry Proficiency in whole genome data QC from DRAGEN variant calling Experience with large-scale whole exome/genome data analysis including QC, relatedness, population genetic, and association analyses
- Familiarity with UNIX, Perl/Python, and statistical environments such as R Software skills in DRAGEN, PLINK, RGENIE
Preferred Skills:
- Direct experience with DRAGEN variant calling population-scale whole genome data QC
- Experience with NextFlow and adapting pipelines in cloud-based analysis platforms
