Residential Caregiver Specialist, (7 days on, 7 days off)

We Need:

Supportive and caring individuals with good verbal communication skills looking for a position to work with adults with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities in a Group Home Setting. This position is for Individuals wanting to work an alternating 7 days on - 7 days off, Live-In position, Mon-Sun. (Imagine having two weeks off every month!)

The main duties are providing direct care support and supervision to 6 adults with Intellectual and other Developmental Disabilities, (ex: Down's Syndrome or Autism), in a group home setting. Responsibilities include supporting these individuals with daily living skills training such as cooking, cleaning, laundry, overseeing health care and attending doctor appointments, providing transportation, and planning community outings. During the "on" weeks, staff must do sleepovers at the group home each night. There is a staff bedroom.

Additional Requirements: This is a live-in position on alternating weeks. The candidate for this position must be willing to do sleepovers at the group home during their week of work.

Schedule: M-F Split shift, 5a-9:30a/4:30p-10p, Sat & Sun. 6a-10p (50 hours M-F & 34 hours Sat-Sun)

Rate: $12 per hour plus overtime.

What you'll do:

  • Teach meal planning and cooking.
  • Instruct and assist with household cleaning, personal care & hygiene.
  • Helping residents identify and acquire valued social roles.
  • Facilitating community integration and provide community recreational activities.
  • Documentation of activities.
  • Helping residents develop healthy social habits.
  • Dispensing medication and monitoring dosages.
  • Must be willing to drive a full-size passenger van.

What You'll Bring:

  • A High School diploma or higher education
  • Friendly and Caring demeanor
  • Good written skills in English
  • Willingness to learn and grow
  • Six month's experience with Special Needs populations
  • A valid Driver's License
  • Must be at least 21 years old.

All applicants are required to have a high school diploma or GED, a valid driver's license, and successfully pass a drug screen and background check. Six months verifiable direct experience working with individuals with disabilities (paid or volunteer). In lieu of experience with disabilities, other relevant experience may be considered with additional on the job training. All experience must be verifiable. Must be 21 years old or over.
