The CT Clinical Supervisor demonstrates a thorough understanding of Imaging principles and techniques while defining standards for quality and evaluating processes and services against those standards. Showcases leadership and independent judgment necessary to support an effective work environment while demonstrating the initiative to stay abreast of current technology and showing evidence of professional growth. Develops and assists in continuous performance improvement within the department in order to maintain optimal quality patient care. Manages the overall operations of the section to ensure quality patient care and customer satisfaction. Has a working knowledge of effective utilization of department operating budgets in areas of accountability.
Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrates advanced knowledge and skill to perform routine and difficult examinations by using independent judgment.
  • Assists in the development, review, and implementation of policies and procedures, including but not limited to quality assurance/control programs.
  • Resolves physician complaints regarding clinical performance.
  • Demonstrates excellent triage of patients.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of radiation safety and protection principles.
  • Demonstrates creativity in section operational skills, decision-making skills, and contingency planning preparation.
  • Initiates and manages various projects with a high degree of accuracy and timeliness.
  • Develops, implements, and monitors performance improvement activities.
  • Works within the department and with the hospital at large to provide direction and support.
  • Conducts effective coordination of routine section functions.
  • Ensures financial viability by the proper utilization of limited resources along with proactive cost containment initiatives. Assists in formulating annual revenue, expense and FTE budgets. Effectively manages section productivity to meet facility standards.
  • Ensures adequate staffing plans on a 24-hour basis and ensures equitable staffing requirements. Works as a technologist to perform Imaging examinations when essential to meet staffing requirements for the section, to include holiday and on-call coverage when necessary, and to ensure effective section operations. Approves overtime and alters staffing assignments for extended coverage. Works with the manager, director, and staff in diffusing/resolving customer issues related to scheduling conflicts and equipment downtime.
  • Oversees and assists team members in assigned functional area, which may include but not limited to, ensuring team is meeting key-deliverables and quality standards, addressing and resolving challenges, managing and tracking performance, and assisting in time management and scheduling; escalates issues to senior leaders as needed.
  • May perform additional duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

  • Work schedule: Monday - Friday, FT
  • Location: Inova Mount Vernon Hospital
  • Education: Associate degree or Graduate of an accredited school/program of Radiology or Nuclear Medicine with a valid certification.
  • Experience: Three years of imaging experience in a hospital/healthcare environment with experience in an applicable imaging modality. Preferred: Three years leadership experience in a hospital/healthcare environment with a diagnostic testing department.
  • Certification: ARRT certified as a Radiologic Technologist. BLS by the AHA
