Position Summary The Application Engineer will serve as the initial point of contact for customer issues and technical inquiries, prioritizing the enhancement of a positive customer experience while interacting with Innoflight products. In this role, close collaboration with Product Engineers is essential to produce, maintain, and improve comprehensive user developer manuals and Reference Designs. Additionally, the position involves the effective management of the customer support request tracking database, handoff of RMAs, and providing regular metric reports to the management team.

Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
  • Enhance the developer experience for customers
  • Collaborate with Product Engineers on all user-facing documentation, including managing revisions and customer distribution
  • Coordinate with Product Engineers on distribution of Reference Designs, Customized Reference Designs, and Personality Designs for developer packages
  • Document and manage customer support email exchanges in a database to determine value-added improvements to user guides
  • Validate software (SW) build instructions and test scripts detailed in user documentation by performing end unit test runs
  • Address customer inquiries regarding custom SW builds used on Innoflight hardware (HW)
  • Supply input on customer support needs for new projects during contract discussions to accurately estimate required support hours
  • Manage database of product notifications and the associated affected customer lists
  • Be the direct line of communicate with customers for product notifications
  • Participate in the integration and test of SW and HW to account for customer experience
  • Determine when a reported issue should be converted to an Return Material Authorization (RMA)
  • Collect, analyze, and report to upper management the customer support metrics
  • Develop training material for Innoflight’s products and conduct on-site or virtual training with customers
  • Collaborate with Business Development to gather customer inputs to incorporate into design improvements
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, competitor products, and emerging technologies to provide recommendations for product enhancements
  • Contribute to the Frequency Asked Questions (FAQ) knowledge base to reduce response time in troubleshooting common issues
  • Participate in product design reviews to provide input on usability and customer requirements
  • Support the development and execution of product demos for prospective customers
  • Continuously optimize processes and improve efficiency in customer support and product delivery
  • Identify means to improve customer experience and on-time delivery by providing closed-loop feedback

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)

  • Bachelor’s Degree in related field (Electrical or Computer Engineering, Computer Science) required.
  • 8 or more years related experience and/or training on embedded systems and embedded Linux, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 4 or more years Linux application or Linux driver development on embedded systems
  • Exceptional customer services and interpersonal skills
  • Superb communication and collaboration skills
  • Experience with embedded hardware a plus
  • Familiarity with Ethernet networking protocols also a plus
  • Experience with writing user documentation for applications a plus
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is constantly required to communicate. The employee frequently is required to use hands or fingers, handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. Frequently required prolonged periods in stationary position at a desk entering text or data into a computer or other machine by means of a traditional keyboard. The employee is occasionally required to move, position self, and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally transport up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include clarity of vision at approximately 20 inches or less (i.e., working with small objects or reading small print), including use of computers, far visual acuity, and peripheral vision. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
Salary Range

$105,000 - $125,000 per year

However, Innoflight considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, education/training, and key skills. Employees may be eligible for profit sharing and discretionary bonuses in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. In addition, Innoflight provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, 401K, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO).
