About the Job
Inland Engineering Services, Inc. (IES) has been a successful engineering and construction company since 2007, specializing in various services such as excavation, backhoe trenching, directional drilling, and aerial fiber optic placement. We are currently seeking Field Inspectors to join our dynamic and expanding team, offering numerous opportunities for growth.
Position: Construction Field Inspector
Essential Functions:
Safety Focus:
  • Prioritize SAFETY as the topmost concern by strictly adhering to and enforcing all company safety standards.
  • Execute job duties safely and in accordance with company policies, standards, and guidelines.
  •  Work efficiently in a fast-paced construction environment, demonstrating strong communication skills and proficiency in Microsoft programs.
Compliance and Quality Assurance:
  • Ensure utility activities align with company specifications and standards.
  • Oversee ongoing compliance with inspection guidance procedures for optimal field inspection services in conduit installation and restoration.
Documentation Management:
  • Maintain detailed Daily Progress Reports (DPRs) for inspection worksites and subcontractor activities, including special notes on incidents.
  • Submit DPRs to Supervisors for review and provide directed revisions to ensure accurate "satisfactory" or "unsatisfactory" QC documentation.
Quality Control:
  • Provide quality assurance/quality control in accordance with company standards.
  • Verify qualifications of third-party subcontractors and promptly notify appropriate personnel of deviations from company policies.
Technical Inspection:
Measure trench alignment and inspect trenches for the proper installation of facilities.
Confirm material adherence to company specifications during both delivery and installation. 
Asphalt Repairs and Visual Inspection:
  • Visually inspect asphalt repairs before and after completion to guarantee proper billing and adherence to company specifications.
  • Review timestamped, and GPS coordinates photos for accuracy of depth and location.
Communication and Relationship Management:
Notify Supervisors promptly of any issues related to changes in normal work activities and scope.
Maintain a professional relationship with clients, contractors, team members, consistently delivering excellent client work.
Coordination and Community Awareness:
  • Call Dig Alert (USA) before commencing any construction work, for both in-house and subcontractors.
  • Effectively communicate policies, procedures, and construction practices both verbally and in writing.
  • Utilize a working knowledge of clearance and permit needs for outside or inside plant construction.
Interpersonal Skills and Traffic Control:
  • Demonstrate good interpersonal communication skills when collaborating with public utilities and private subcontractors.
  • Ability to place No Parking signs and notify residents of upcoming construction projects.
  • Maintain and oversee traffic control as required.
Collaboration and Support:
  •  Assist the Construction Foreman as needed.
  • Utilize Adobe or Visio to prepare construction as-built documentation.
  • Demonstrate effective written communication skills.
  • Read and understand construction and traffic control maps, utilizing a working knowledge of drawings or design.
Safety Compliance and Equipment Maintenance:
  • Recognize, practice, and enforce safety rules and procedures.
  • Wear safety PPE, including hard hats, proper footwear, safety glasses, and gloves.
  • Maintain the company-issued vehicle in a clean and good driving condition.
Additional Duties:
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Requirements:
  • Minimum one year of construction experience; telecommunication experience is a plus.
  • General knowledge and successful completion of required training, certification, and evaluations.
  • Ability to read and understand construction/technical drawings and specifications.
  • Proficiency in using email, mobile devices, MS Office, and PDF software.
  • Ability to work independently in an outdoor environment.
  • Ability to manage difficult customers.
  • Ability to read maps and blueprints.
  • Knowledgeable in excavations and hazards associated.
  • Must pass DOT (compliant) drug screen.
Driving/Transportation:
  • Possession of a valid Driver's License and a satisfactory driving record is an ongoing requirement.
All offers are contingent upon receipt of satisfactory results of a pre-employment drug test and clean Motor Vehicle Record..
Competitive pay and benefits:
  • Annual $45,760-$62,400 (Depending on Experience)
