Description

Inland Engineering Services, Inc (IES) is an engineering and construction company, successful in business since 2007. IES specializes in excavation, backhoe trenching, directional drilling, aerial fiber optic placement just to name a few services that we provide. We are looking for a Telecom Fielder to be part of the Site Survey Department in our Choose an item. facility, that has the desire to be a part of a winning team and growing company with many opportunities.

OVERVIEW:

Responsibilities of a Fielder for the site Survey department include the fielding of Site surveys which can include verification of Coax and Fiber plant and communication infrastructure plus the drawing of the site survey. Meeting time frame for set appointments and walking out a site with a Construction Coordinator or a POC. Updating and tracking when any project is drawn, drafted, or completed. Assist design engineering in the design process with pre-fielding of both Aerial and Underground facilities. Training is provided to all new hires.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDED BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Travel to commissioned worksites and survey telecom to complete assigned projects.
  • Locate, sketch, and document detailed information of OSP facilities: cables, poles, ground structures, terminals, manholes, and equipment.
  • Measure attachment heights, structures dimensions and span distances.
  • Measure distances from existing/proposed OSP facilities.
  • Take measurements, field notes, and produce sketches for TCP design.
  • Identify bonding and grounding requirements.
  • Must have knowledge in California Public Utilities Commission, GO95, GO128 and document accordingly.
  • Contact and work for hand in hand with municipalities, utilities or Caltrans via email, site visits or phone when requesting parcel maps, easement right of way or as-builts to provide engineering.
  • Adhere to safety practices and guidelines
  • Identify all possible safety hazards while out in the field.
  • Understand and strictly adhere to all quality requirements without deviation appointed by company and customer alike.
  • Communicate with team members daily.
  • Prepare and submit final report of completion in activity management system
  • Draft all Levels of Coax and Fiber
  • Manage all levels of drafters
  • QC all high-profile fiber/coax drafts
  • Manage projects from beginning to end
  • Delegate jobs according to priority needs
  • Train and lead all drafters
  • Facilitate and support Manager
  • Initiate and set processes for efficiency in productivity

Intermediate Level along with the requirements above:

  • Participate in Site Walks
  • Articulate proposed scope of work to multiple parties
  • Able to locate underground facilities
  • Identify Coax and Fiber plant
  • Understand Aerial GEO95
  • Understand Utility, Property and City regulations

At advanced level along with the requirements above:

  • Conduct or lead Side Walks and articulate SOW
  • Manage and coordinate projects
  • Train, QC and troubleshoot all Fielding levels

Qualifications


EXPERIENCE, QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

  • MUST have a valid California Driver’s License
  • Must have and maintain an acceptable driving record.
  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Experience with aerial and underground utilities and the ability to read and understand USA look-up marks.
  • Responsible of Vehicle Maintenance
  • Must be detail-oriented, and have legible handwriting, the ability to walk at least 2 miles per day with work equipment at hand.
  • Understanding of OSP facilities, construction techniques, and conduit records is required.
  • Knowledge of easement, right-of-way, and permit documents is preferred.
  • Experience and understanding of outside plant construction techniques.
  • Must have good communication skills.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Exposure to noise, occasional interruptions, and frequent confinement workstation.

Normal office conditions exist in an open office environment with exposure to repetitive work.

  • Must be able to bend, stoop, squat, crawl, climb, kneel, balance, push, pull and reach overhead.
  • Sit for long periods of time while driving.
  • Might be exposed to noise and occasional interruptions.
  • Work outside in varying weather conditions and/or extreme temperatures to complete warehouse tasks.
  • Lift or move up to 50 pounds. Constantly move about on the feet.
  • Climb ladders of all types.
  • Complete full day assignments involving overhead work.
  • May be required to read engineering designs.
  • Must be able to make transition from employee parking area or street into construction work areas and to access all levels of the building, even if the only means of access is by O.S.H.A. approved site construction ladder or stairs still under construction, but acceptable for use.
  • Must be capable of securing tools and materials from storage areas to complete assigned tasks.
  • Possess good vision, normal or corrected.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Possess good hearing, normal or corrected.
  • Must be able to positively identify different colors of wiring, conduit, and fiber optics.
  • Wear personal protective equipment (hard hat, safety glasses, safety vest) at all times.
  • Must be able to work in the presence of customers and their representatives with little or no interference or disruption to the customer while maintaining a professional and courteous image.
