Inland Empire Job Corps Center is Hiring a Career Transition Specialist Near San Bernardino, CA

The CTS Specialist is responsible for assisting assignees to transition to the workforce through placement in entry-level employment, the military, college, apprenticeship or further education and training opportunities after exiting from the Job Corps program and for providing follow up services with placed assignees for the required service period.

Essential Functions

1. Establishes robust relationships with employers, community colleges, and other entities to ensure successful placements with good career pathway opportunities for economic self-sufficiency.

2. Establishes thorough knowledge of and referrals to community-based services available to assist Job Corps graduates with successful transition into independent living.

3. Meets monthly assigned placement goals by providing quality placement efforts for all assignees.

4. Collaborates with center staff to engage with projected assignees prior to exit to review career transition services and placement plans.

5. Conducts a needs assessment for each assignee to determine career and transition support necessary to secure placement including housing, transportation, and childcare needs.

6. Conducts job development activities, networks with employers, chambers, American Job Centers, and other workforce stakeholders to secure ongoing job leads and maintain a job bank. Records all linkages in a central database and updates regularly.

7. Networks with center instructors and program staff to establish employer linkages.

8. Regularly surveys employers to determine needs and areas of training improvement to create a feedback loop and communicates suggestions to program staff.

9. Ensures that assignees have a portfolio of documents necessary for job search and for obtaining employment including resume and credentials.

10. Focuses placement efforts to align with assignees’ career plans and pathway achievement records (PARs) to ensure students remain on track with placement goals. Conducts additional occupational interest surveys as needed.

11. Assists with career advancement and upskilling through conducting or connecting assignees with employability workshops and supplemental training.

12. Maintain linkages with American Job Centers and local vocational rehabilitation agencies to assist assignees that require accommodations.

13. Maintains at least monthly contact with all assignees. Documents contact attempts and results in case notes in the Job Corps CTS system using the standard RAP format (Reason, Action, Plan) in compliance with the PRH.

14. Verifies and documents assignee placements in strict compliance with PRH Ch.4 criteria and exhibits.

15. May transport students to various learning or employment opportunities.

16. Performs additional duties as warranted or assigned.

Qualifications and Experience

Minimum

Bachelor’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field; or Associate’s degree in human services, psychology, counseling, education, social science, business, communications, or closely related field and two years’ experience in job-development. Excellent verbal and written communication, good presentation and public speaking skills. Excellent networking skills. Information technology proficiency including MS Office. Unless waived by management, a valid driver's license in the state of employment with an acceptable driving record is required.

Preferred

Bachelor’s degree in related field and two years’ experience in job development.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 per week
