About the Role
Infrastructure Engineering Inc. (IEI) is looking for a Senior Intelligent Transportation Systems Engineer to join our New York/New Jersey Team! We are a leading engineering firm known for quality and responsiveness and a proven track record of success as a Prime civil engineering firm. This role is responsible for the successful completion and delivery of assigned projects with the goal of exceeding the client’s expectations in quality and service within the allocated schedule and budget. The Senior Intelligent Transportation Systems Engineer, through the Design Manager, draws on the other members of the organization to lead the team with the resources, technical guidance, administrative and technical services and facilities necessary for efficient, profitable, timely and technically excellent project execution. Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Includes, but not limited to, the following:
• Overall responsible person for the technical accuracy and competency of the project.
• Must bring a technical background in ITS design, operations, and construction
• A minimum of 15 years of experience is required, including transportation engineering assessments, design
projects, traffic operations assignments, field experience, and the management of projects, and staff
• Familiarity with industry standards (NTCIP, NEMA, IEEE and NEC), various transportation agencies’ ITS standards and specifications is required
• Provide technical expertise
• In depth familiarity with NYSDOT, NYSDOT, and PANY&NJ design standards,
• Successful experience meeting scope, schedules, and budgets on transportation projects/studies
• Reviews drawings and documents to assure compliance with company’s and client’s design and production standards as well as compliance with QA/QC procedures.
• The primary duties of this senior level position include working on a variety of ITS systems engineering and design needs for transportation projects
• Successful candidate will be responsible for managing clients, projects and design teams, and leading design efforts for developing, updating and reviewing design documents, technical specifications and other project related documentations
• Develops junior staff by identifying trainings and seminars as well as mentoring them on greater project and design responsibilities
To Be Successful
• Must have a bachelor’s degree in engineering from an accredited four‐year college or university or approved equivalent.
• Professional Engineer License In New York or New Jersey required
• Must have a minimum of 15 years of experience is required, including transportation engineering assessments, design projects, traffic operations assignments, field experience, and the management of projects, and staff
• In addition, 15 years of related experience and responsibilities delivering ITS solutions
• Must have a strong technical background in ITS design, operations, and construction
• Actively participate in at least two professional association related to industry.
• Identify and attend at least one training and professional development activity every year in accordance with company policy.
