Building Design Intern (Architecture) - Summer 2024
Tampa, FL
We are seeking a highly motivated and talented Building Design Intern (Architecture) to join our team this summer for a 12-week internship program at our Tampa, FL office. Our firm specializes in infrastructure projects, with a particular focus on renovation projects, new buildings, and aviation facilities. As an intern, you will have the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience in architectural design, project coordination, and collaboration within a multidisciplinary team. This position is ideal for a motivated individual who is passionate about architecture and eager to contribute to the development of innovative and sustainable infrastructure solutions. All employment offers for interns are contingent upon the applicant successfully completing drug and background screenings. Once qualified candidates have been identified, the recruiting team will schedule interviews.
This internship spans 12 weeks, starting sometime in May and ending in August. The exact start and end dates will be decided during the recruitment process.
Key Responsibilities:
  1. Design Support:
    • Assist in the development and preparation of architectural designs, drawings, and specifications for new buildings and aviation projects.
    • Contribute to the creation of conceptual designs, 3D models, and renderings.
    • Collaborate with architects and engineers to ensure design integration and adherence to project requirements and standards.
  2. Documentation and Coordination:
    • Assist in the preparation and organization of architectural documentation, including construction drawings, schedules, and specifications.
    • Participate in project coordination meetings to ensure effective communication and collaboration between architectural and engineering teams.
    • Support the review and coordination of design changes, ensuring compliance with regulations, codes, and project requirements.
  3. Research and Analysis:
    • Conduct research on emerging architectural trends, materials, and technologies relevant to infrastructure projects.
    • Assist in the analysis and evaluation of architectural design options, considering factors such as aesthetics, functionality, sustainability, and cost-effectiveness.
    • Contribute to the development of design solutions that optimize project performance and align with client objectives.
  4. Site Visits and Field Support:
    • Participate in site visits to gain a comprehensive understanding of construction processes and project implementation.
    • Assist with on-site observation, documentation, and quality control to ensure compliance with architectural plans and specifications.
    • Collaborate with project teams to resolve design-related issues that may arise during construction.
Qualifications:
  • Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Architecture or a related field.
  • Familiarity with architectural design principles, construction techniques, and building codes.
  • Strong visual and spatial awareness with excellent graphic and presentation skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Prior internship or relevant work experience in architectural design is preferred but not required.
  • US Resident or Green Card required.

Collaborative learning also involves learning from peers and fellow interns. The primary goal of the internship is to gain as much infrastructure design experience as possible. While an intern may not have major tasks assigned to them, they should pay close attention to all the steps that go into completing the project. At the end of the internship, the intern should be confident to individually manage project tasks and work independently. ICE’s dedicated recruiting team will assist the intern with full-time employment opportunities, once they are ready to graduate.
Expected Hours of Work: 
The internship offers a structured work schedule of up to 8 hours per day, Monday through Friday, from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (subject to change).
