InfraMap is Hiring an Engineering Director Near Glen, MS

Job Overview:

The Director oversees a group of project managers and other miscellaneous staff in our Virginia, Georgia and Florida offices. The primary duties include:

  • Leading and mentoring managers to implement company initiatives and policy,
  • Providing guidance to the project managers on contract, project, and client management,
  • Evaluating company processes and procedures for potential improvement and implementation,
  • Preparing business strategies and communicating strategic approaches and plans with their staff,
  • Working with accounting to manage profit and loss,
  • Maintaining existing relationships with clients, partners, and stakeholders,
  • Developing relationships and growing the business in their assigned region,
  • Serving as project manager and main point of contact for high-priority projects,
  • Managing contracts

A director utilizes independent judgement and critical thinking skills to take a larger-picture approach, managing InfraMap initiatives to help achieve long-term goals.

Job Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Management of project managers, field staff, CADD operators, and administrative staff.
  • Maintain sufficient and qualified staff including hiring and firing when necessary
  • Communicating staffing needs depending on upcoming workloads
  • Conduct performance evaluations
  • Project and contract management
  • Attend kick-off / scoping meetings, perform fee negotiations
  • Coordinate staffing and potential workshare opportunities with other territories.
  • Provide professional review/judgement.
  • Sign and seal project documents with professional certification when necessary.
  • Contract preparation, management, compliance, and problem resolution.
  • Accounting
  • Prepare pricing recommendations when applicable
  • Assist with preparation and review of invoices
  • Work with EVP and CFO to evaluate pertinent financial information
  • Budgets, forecasting, profit / loss management
  • Business Development
  • Maintain positive relationships with current and potential clients.
  • Evaluate potential client and market targets for business growth.
  • Attend conferences.
  • Participate in professional organizations.
  • Give technical presentations.
  • Participate in interview presentations for contract selection.

Job Requirements:

General

  • 5 years’ experience in SUE, civil engineering, or related field
  • Proficiency in the CI/ASCE 38-02 Standard/willingness to learn.
  • Ability to read and understand maps, records, and prints.
  • Working knowledge of Excel, Word, PDF editor
  • Must have good communication skills (verbal and written), attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to read and understand maps, records, and prints.

Physical

  • Light work that includes moving objects up to 20 pounds.
  • Repeating motions that may include the wrists, hands and/or fingers.
  • Must be able to walk, bend, and lift up to 75 pounds. (if/when in field)
  • Must have the ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces. (if/when in field)
  • Must have the ability to see and respond to external influences, including hazardous environments. (if/when in field)
  • Must have the ability to wear personal protective gear correctly most of the day. (if/when in field)

Work Environment

  • Primarily office environment
  • Travel when needed (some overnight)
  • Must be able to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions (if/when in field)
  • Must be able to work in a confined space. (if/when in field)

Skills & Experience:

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or related field.
  • PE licensure in at least one state (willingness to attain more)
  • 10 years’ experience in engineering or related field
  • 5 years in management/supervisory role
  • Experience in project/contract management.
  • Technical writing and communication skills.
  • Advanced knowledge/proficiency of MicroStation, AutoCAD, or OpenRoads
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and related applications.
  • Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug test.
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
  • Must pass a security clearance/background check.

Valued but not required skills and experience:

  • Master’s degree in civil engineering or related field
  • PE licensure in states within assigned territory
  • Advanced Knowledge/proficiency of ArcGIS
