BROCKTON NEIGHBORHOOD HEALTH CENTER
In order to prevent a direct threat to the safety and health of our patients and staff, effective August 1, 2021, new hires are required to have had at least the first dose of a COVID vaccine prior to their start, with the exception of those who have documented medical or religious exemptions. New hires who are not yet vaccinated can arrange to have the vaccine on site.

POSITION SUMMARY:
A bi- or tri-lingual individual to assist our MA licensed Opticians in their daily activities. These would include assisting with: language interpreting; incoming eyeglass orders’ management; patient eyeglass notification; eyeglass frame selection; insurance prior authorization; voicemail management, and insurance coverage discussions.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assist in language interpreting where needed
Check in and verify incoming eyeglass orders (after training) from multiple labs
 Notify patients that their glasses are ready for dispensing/pick-up
 Assist in the selection of eyeglass frames (after training)
 Explain to patients their insurance coverage and financial responsibilities if any.
Assist in taking a formal inventory at least twice per year.
Enter data in to NextGen/ Optik data base system.
Follow all Brockton Neighborhood Health Center protocols and regulations.
Provide a friendly and professional environment within Optical for all the health center patients.
Minor frame adjustment & repair (after training).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Personable, high school or beyond educated bi- or tri-lingual person comfortable interacting with patients and working with numerical figures and basic finances in a team work environment.
Requires an active commitment to excellence in patient care, a desire to improve wellness of our community, an appreciation for community needs, a culturally competent individual, and someone who is excited about the opportunity to build the eye service.
Familiarity with MA insurance billing is helpful.

WORKING CONDITIONS:
Works in a busy community health center in an urban neighborhood. Long hours are frequently required.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
The individual must be in good health of mind and body with the physical dexterity and vision suitable to accomplish the job duties outlined above. Knowledge of proper patient transfer assistance is also required and the ability to lift as much as 50 pounds may be necessary.
