Infinity Healthcare Consulting is Hiring an Assistant General Counsel, Regulatory, and Compliance Near Fort Lauderdale, FL

Infinity Healthcare Consulting is a leading healthcare consulting company for many of the top long-term care facilities in the nation. The Assistant General Counsel will work directly with the General Counsel, because this role plays a pivotal role in ensuring adherence to regulatory standards within our client’s organizations.
This position will expose a qualified candidate to a full range of opportunities within the healthcare landscape. The successful candidate will be ready to navigate a growth-oriented, rapidly changing, and sometimes ambiguous environment in the long-term care space. This person must be comfortable juggling multiple tasks under tight deadlines and must be a strong writer and communicator at senior levels of the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with the General Counsel to establish and enforce corporate compliance policies and procedures, focusing on quality of care, residents’ rights, employee screening, vendor relationships, billing practices, cost reporting, documentation and record keeping.
  • Regularly assess the organization's compliance status and provide comprehensive reports to key stakeholders, highlighting areas of strength and improvement opportunities.
  • Take decisive action to address instances of noncompliance, devising practical strategies to rectify deficiencies and prevent future occurrences.
  • Conduct routine audits to identify potential compliance weaknesses and proactively address them.
  • Facilitate effective communication with employees to ensure a clear understanding of their obligations in meeting both internal and external legal requirements.
Typical Work Activities:
  • Analyze findings from annual surveys to address identified deficiencies promptly.
  • Maintain detailed records of hotline calls and investigations, ensuring thorough documentation of outcomes.
  • Collaborate with the General Counsel and key management to develop and enforce guidelines pertaining to federal, state, and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate the corporate compliance committee to address noncompliance issues and implement corrective measures.
  • Establish audits and/or oversee audits of facility operations, resident conditions, staff performance, and facility systems to evaluate compliance effectiveness and efficiency.
  • Develop and deliver educational programs to enhance employees' understanding of legal and ethical business practices.
  • Responds to questions, suggestions or complaints from facility employees and residents regarding compliance issues.
  • Promptly address and investigate any reports of unethical or illegal conduct, maintaining confidentiality as necessary.
  • Provide regular reports to the Governing Body on compliance with medical standards, nursing care, billing practices, and other legal obligations.
  • Comply with mandatory reporting requirements for incidents of mistreatment, neglect, or abuse as mandated by law.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Thorough understanding of long-term care facilities and healthcare regulations.
  • Thorough understanding of professional techniques and legal obligations, with the ability to apply them effectively.
  • Proficiency in relevant regulations and guidelines, including Medicare and Medicaid billing rules and standards of practice.
  • Familiarity with laws and regulations governing nursing facilities, as well as principles of nursing home administration.
  • Strong organizational skills for managing records and reports related to facility management.
  • Effective communication skills to explain findings and garner cooperation from stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated integrity, honesty, dependability, resourcefulness, and professionalism in all endeavors.
  • Previous experience working for a law firm, in-house counsel for a medical practice, or as a chief compliance officer
