Infinite Legacy is Hiring a Clinical Manager, Organ Recovery (Nurse, RN, Nurse Leadership) Near Falls, VA

General Job Summary:

Under the general direction of the Director, Organ Recovery, the Clinical Manager, Organ Recovery leads and guides the Clinical Recovery department towards accomplishing Infinite Legacy’s mission and goals by providing oversight of daily organ recovery operations. Serves as the clinical expert for donor suitability, organ allocation, organ recovery for transplant and research, training, call responsibilities, and import/flyout process for the organization. Accountable for organ recovery staff adherence to all regulatory and accrediting agency standards, including, but not limited to CMS, UNOS, AOPO, FDA and AATB, as well as all internal Infinite Legacy organizational policies, procedures, and guidelines. Provides direction to staff while encouraging the professional development and achievement of personal and departmental goals.

Position require travel to Infinite Legacy regional offices (Falls Church, VA and Baltimore, MD).

Education and Experience:

  1. College work in a health care related field from an accredited college/university. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  2. Demonstrated proficiency in the Organ Recovery Coordinator role.
  3. Two to four years of management experience in an acute health care setting.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • At the request of Human Resources, participates in the screening and hiring process of candidates.
  • Maintaining and updating the departmental performance management board and reporting these departmental projects/goals on a routine schedule as defined by organizational leadership.
  • Approves payroll timesheets for signoff on a bi-weekly basis per departmental protocol.
  • Approves paid time-off (PTO) requests from staff per departmental protocol while maintaining adequate staffing to meet clinical activity.
  • Approves expense reports.
  • Oversees the daily workflow of the department.
  • Provides constructive and timely performance evaluations.
  • Handles discipline and termination of employees in accordance with company policy.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  1. Demonstrated leadership skills, as well as excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
  2. Demonstrated excellent judgment, decision making and organization skills. Ability to problem solve in stressful situations.
  3. Must attain and maintain CPTC certification.
  4. Must remain proficient in all regulatory and accrediting agency standards and policies.

Duties/Responsibilities:

  1. Ensures the Organ Recovery department is adequately staffed and trained to provide appropriate and efficient response to referrals, accurate evaluation of potential donors, timely and efficient recovery of organs and local and import organ allocation, recovery, and packaging.
  2. In collaboration with Education, provides oversight to new staff by coordinating and participating in orientation and regular meetings to assess progress.
  3. Ensures the ongoing clinical competency of staff through a variety of methods including: ongoing education, case reviews/debriefs, self-paced learning modules, collaboration with Infinite Legacy Education Department and focused learning and training activities.
  4. Participates in the strategic planning process and performance metrics development for the department under the direction of the Director of Organ Recovery and/or Chief Clinical Officer. Monitors progress and completion of goals in collaboration with interdepartmental leaders, monthly.
  5. In collaboration with Quality Systems, ensures timely response to SOP modifications and compliance, CAPA, and ongoing competencies and quality improvement projects.
  6. In conjunction with Education, manages and directs the training efforts and outcomes for the Organ Recovery department. This includes the development and implementation of department-specific training in conjunction with ancillary partners such as transplant centers and/or hospital partners.
  7. Keeps knowledge current through participation in NATCO, UNOS, AOPO, and AATB.
  8. Serves as emergency contact for applicable departments, including sick calls and emergencies. During times of decreased staffing/emergency, may be required to fill staffing holes and/or timeframes necessary.
  9. Support the Administrator on Call (AOC) role and responsibilities as needed.
  10. In conjunction with the Chief Clinical Officer and the Director of Organ Recovery, participates in departmental fiduciary responsibilities including, but not limited to, review of donor hospital bills, development of the department budget and monthly variance report explanations.
  11. In conjunction with the Director, Quality Systems or designee, maintains oversight of the management of organ recovery supplies.
  12. Maintains call shift responsibilities to identify areas of improvement, under the direction of the Director of Organ Recovery and as determined by the clinical and administrative needs of the department.
  13. In conjunction with the OCME liaison, ensures compliance with OCME requests.
