Job description Department: Information Technology and Service Department Budget Title: Senior Programmer Analyst? SL-? Campus Title: Mainframe System Programmer Reports to: Associate Director for Computing Services Works with: IT unit managers Reporting to the Associate Director for Computing Services the Sr. Programmer Analyst is charged with providing systems programming, fixes and upgrades to major mainframe software systems including but not limited to Z/OS, Z/VM, DLM, CICS/TS, TSM, and 3rd Party software. This position will also require one to configure and diagnose mainframe hardware systems and EMC DLM. Monitor Capacity of these systems. Implement new mainframe system and DLM upgrades. Provide present and future mainframe systems reliability and availability. Review and keep track of software product licensing to ensure software stability. Review and approve all upgrades to the mainframe systems and ISV Products. Ensure Change requests are opened for all upgrades/changes to the systems environment. This individual will apply proven communication and problem-solving skills to guide and assist user groups on issues related to related to the design, development, and deployment of software systems Principle Duties and Responsibilities
Ability to prioritize projects in order to optimize the benefit to the organization
Provide leadership representing the Information Services Department in collaboration with management & staff on matters related to use of technology
Communicate with management & project staff on such matters as budget, departmental IT requirements, policies & procedures, project status, new programs, etc., within time frames specified
Provide access to information in supporting patient care, education, and research
Provide business process analysis and reengineering whenever possible.
This position may require flexible scheduling to provide services to other shifts and systems that must remain up weekdays.
Qualifications Required:
Experience with Z/VM
Extensive experience working with z/OS, JES2, SMP/E, TSO, VTAM
Experience with Network (TCP/IP, SNA, NetView, VTAM)
Experience with install and maintain IBM and other system support software (CA product line, FDR, SAS, SyncSort, BMC, Tubes, etc.)
Experience with DASD storage, SAN storage (IBM DS8700, FICON)
Experience with backup and Virtual Tape subsystems (IBM TSM, EMC DLM )
Experience with security systems: CA VM/Secure and z/OS RACF
