Office-based role in Manchester, NH (potential for hybrid)

Job Summary

Reporting to the CEO and the Family Office Board, the Family Holdings Financial Officer will provide executive leadership of administrative and finance functions enterprise-wide throughout our related entities and investments, to ensure timely and accurate financial information and analysis including forecasting, consolidation and balancing of all related entities. The Family Holdings Financial Officer’s work will result in improving, and subsequently maintaining, financial transparency into the overall operations and performance of the board’s investment activities and operating entities.

The individual will be a key part of the management team with responsibility over both transactional processing as well as helping with the development of and execution of strategy, financial focus, and forecasting. They will maintain effective relationships with the executive team and business unit leaders.

Family Holdings Financial Officer Qualifications and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, with strong preference for an accounting/finance degree, MBA, or experience equivalent
  • Well versed in tax and financial statement accounting concepts
  • Ability to provide leadership and vision
  • Team development and management experience
  • Consensus builder among agencies, department managers, and teams
  • Organizational insight to assess finance personnel and build effective finance workflows
  • Superb analytical skills which can be applied to finance, strategic, and tactical objectives
  • ‘Top down’ as well as bottom up’ world view to ensure information and follow-on action makes sense
  • Big picture grasp of enterprise operations to understand the implications of financial reports and keen insight to cross check on and dive into the details
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Office (exceptional proficiency with Excel), SharePoint, Teams, and Power BI, QuickBooks/Quicken Reach reporting, LastPass, Asana, and payroll processing
  • Ability to prioritize and manage by objective
  • Ability to learn reporting and extraction capabilities from agency and other CRM systems as well as consolidated reporting systems
  • Ability to effectively recruit, lead, manage, and retain a talented finance team
  • Ability to hold others accountable for accomplishments and objectives managing to result
  • High project scoping, implementation, and follow through skills supported by project management (Asana) tracking and utilization

Family Holdings Financial Officer Job Responsibilities

  • Tax and audit oversight; engage and interface with accounting firms
  • Cross check internal financial statements to tax filings
  • Ensure monthly forecast updates include appropriate projects and reserving for federal and state tax obligations
  • Analysis in conjunction with accounting firm of tax strategy and corresponding management of tax liabilities
  • Bookkeeping of entities to include payment processing, receivables monitoring, financial statement preparation, and reconciliation
  • Track outstanding loans, due dates, interest rate fluctuations, and cost differentials
  • Develop and provide oversight on building and monitoring annual budgets
  • Conduct ongoing budget reviews and formal quarterly budget reviews
  • Develop and monitor a capital plan relative to capital expense budgets
  • Preparation of Monthly Operating & Quarterly Board Packet
  • Pro forma development and analysis of finance structure and responsibilities; evaluation of accounting staff in conjunction with Controller
  • Perform due diligence on selected opportunities
  • Development of and cross checking the booking of acquisition opening entries and depreciation/amortization schedules
  • Appraisal and personal goodwill evaluations, deal synopsis worksheets
  • Recognize the CEO’s overall investment strategy and provide oversight and reporting on the overall portfolio of the CEO family office
  • Fulfill the role of Risk Officer of the overall family holdings
