Job Summary: The Assistant COMSEC Manager/Technical Advisor (CSM/TA) will report directly to the Site Manager. This position is located at Pituffik Space Force Base, Greenland.
He/she will provide expert support and guidance on technology-related matters, assessing existing systems, designing solutions, ensuring alignment with business objectives, offer oversight on projects, troubleshoot issues, stay updated on industry trends, and advocate for innovative technologies. The CSM/TA will also contribute to risk assessment, training, and documentation while collaborating with stakeholders, vendors, and decision-makers to optimize technical implementations. Their role spans industries, focusing on efficient, compliant, and cost-effective technology solutions.
Essential Duties And ResponsibilitiesCOMSEC Management responsibilities
  • Works in close coordination with the InDyne COMSEC Management staff.
  • Establish controls so that only properly cleared personnel with legitimate needs are permitted access to COMSEC material.
  • Issue COMSEC material to appropriately cleared or authorized individuals whose duties require it, and advise them of their responsibility for properly safeguarding and controlling the COMSEC material in their possession.
  • Implement a comprehensive training program within the COMSEC account, using the AF Form 4168, semi-annual required reading & Emergency Action Plan (EAP) dry run, and other applicable COMSEC publications. Document the training annually. Maintain only the most current training documentation on file.
  • Establish a comprehensive user-training program for all COMSEC Responsible Officers (CRO) and alternates.
  • Be thoroughly familiar with directives concerning COMSEC material and ensure that all COMSEC materials issued to or held by the COMSEC account are safeguarded and controlled according to the established security doctrines.
  • Develop a local operating instruction (OI) pertaining to the COMSEC account's operations. Ensure users write a COMSEC OI according to Air Force regulations.
  • Maintain records of all COMSEC material issued to users.
  • Personally conduct the required semiannual inventory according to Air Force regulations.
  • Prepare realistic Emergency Action Plans (EAP) according to established procedures and ensure they are present at all required COMSEC user locations served by the COMSEC account. Ensure that adequate and appropriate destruction equipment and materials are readily available, and train COMSEC account personnel in their duties under the emergency action plan.
  • Ensure that COMSEC users are familiar with the instances that require COMSEC incident reports. Report suspected or known COMSEC incidents according to Air Force regulations.
  • Perform a semiannual assessment/audit of both the account and all users according to Air Force regulations. Maintain the COMSEC account files and prepare and submit accounting reports to the COR as required.
  • Act as user representative according to Air Force regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned to meet the changing needs of the SSPARS contract.
As Technical Advisor to the work force
  • Well versed on Performance Work Statement (PWS) requirements and responsibilities.
  • Provide expert guidance to management and the work force.
  • Remain aware of industry trends.
  • Able to read and understand technical documentation in support of changes and upgrades to the Upgraded Early Warning Radar (UEWR) and its supporting communications infrastructures.
  • Highly skilled with the latest networking protocols and use thereof.
  • Complete understanding of satellite communications technology.
  • Experienced in the use of Communications Security (COMSEC) techniques, practices, and procedures.
  • Ability to advise site management leading to successful evolution of the SSPARS contract/mission.
  • Able to train employees on all aspects of the SSPARS PWS and its responsibilities.
  • Guides staff members on their daily duties.
  • Performs risk assessments as directed by site management.
  • Ensures successful implementation of technical systems or projects.
Educational/Training Requirements
  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Strong analytical skills.
  • Completion of civilian or military communications or radar operations and maintenance training.
Required Skills/Experience
  • Completion of the Air Force Key Management Infrastructure (KMI) training or equivalent.
  • COMPTIA Security certification or higher required.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbally.
  • Ten years’ experience with United States Space Force policies and procedures.
  • Must have an Active Security Clearance.
Supervision
  • The Site Manager serves as the general supervisor for the Technical Advisor
Work Environment
  • Must be able to lift or move items weighing up to 50 pounds and up to 100 pounds with assistance. Be able to walk at least 500 feet in extremely cold weather, negotiate multiple sets of stairs without assistance, and have the ability to distinguish colors. A 72-hour work week will be the norm.
Physical DemandsWalking, siting, typing, bending and lifting items as required within position requirements.
