As a Strategic Sourcing Buyer, you will play a pivotal role in the procurement process, ensuring that the organization obtains high-quality goods and services at competitive prices. You will be responsible for developing and implementing strategic sourcing initiatives, negotiating contracts, and building strong relationships with suppliers. The ideal candidate will possess a combination of analytical skills, negotiation expertise, and market knowledge to drive cost savings and enhance supplier performance.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Develop and implement strategic sourcing strategies to optimize costs, quality, and delivery performance.
Conduct market research and analysis to identify potential suppliers, market trends, and cost-saving opportunities.
Evaluate supplier capabilities, financial stability, and overall performance to make informed sourcing decisions.
Lead supplier negotiations to achieve favorable terms and conditions, including pricing, payment terms, and service level agreements.
Collaborate with internal stakeholders to understand their requirements and align sourcing strategies with business objectives.
Manage supplier relationships and conduct regular performance reviews to drive continuous improvement and mitigate risks.
Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) to track sourcing performance and identify areas for improvement.
Stay current with industry best practices, emerging trends, and regulatory requirements related to strategic sourcing and procurement.
Utilize procurement software and tools to streamline processes, enhance visibility, and improve decision-making.
Contacts vendors to expedite delivery of purchases, correct invoice errors, negotiate scrap credits and adjustments, and obtain satisfactory arrangements
Act as primary back-up for Project Buyer positions
Understands and adheres to all company health and safety procedures as they relate to essential job functions
QUALIFICATIONS
- Proven experience in strategic sourcing, procurement, or supply chain management, preferably in a manufacturing or corporate environment.
- Strong negotiation skills with a track record of achieving cost savings and improving supplier terms.
- Excellent analytical abilities with proficiency in data analysis and market research techniques.
- Ability to communicate effectively and build collaborative relationships with internal stakeholders and external suppliers.
- Solid understanding of contract management principles and legal aspects of procurement.
- Proficiency in using procurement software, such as SAP.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Knowledge of relevant regulatory requirements, such as ISO standards and environmental regulations, is desirable.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
BS in Business, Supply Chain Management, or a related field and 7-10 years purchasing experiences or an equivalent combination of education and experience
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) certification preferred
Six Sigma certification preferred
Lean certification preferred
