Our client is seeking a Principal Systems Safety Engineer to join our Systems Engineering department in Indianapolis, IN. Systems Safety Engineering is part of Systems Engineering that complements the technical activities required to deliver a project. It deals with engineering that influence the systems' design and architecture in terms of performance, safety, supportability, testability, and cost consideration throughout the lifecycle of the product.
Safety Engineering applies methods, standards, and techniques to provide clarification of system requirements to software, hardware, and test personnel to ensure design and architecture considerations are appropriately allocated to the system and horizontally integrated across the development teams.
The Safety Engineering function supports systems engineering activities including trade studies, use case development, requirements definition and derivation, interface definition, and requirement validation and verification. As such, Systems Safety Engineers interface with the other engineering disciplines and logistics engineering functions to ensure integration and continuity in the design and development process.
As a memeber of the Engineering Team, expect a dynamic and demanding environment that values discipline, adherence to processes, and adding value to our customers through respective disciplines.
The candidate is expected to live in the Indianapolis area and to be onsite 60% of the time.
This position serves as a member of the Vertex Engineering Team and supports various programs within a matrix management assignment as directed. Deliverables include, but not limited to, System Safety Management Plan, Preliminary Hazard Analysis, System Safety Risk Assessment, System Safety Hazard Analysis Report, Safety and Health Data Sheets, technical reports, schedules, basis of estimates for new pursuits, and analyses as required to execute program systems safety for Army programs.
This position requires the ability to perform core systems engineering tasks in addition to Systems Safety tasks when needed. Required Skills:
