Indiju Dental PC is Hiring an Expanded Functions Dental Assistant Near Reading, PA

As an integral part of our clinical team, you will be responsible for assisting the dentist(s), dental hygienist(s), dental assistant(s), and in the preparation and direct provision of primary care dental services to our patients.

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Completion of an accredited course in Expanded Functions Dental Assisting and current license, required
  • Current CPR (BLS) from the American Heart Association or Red Cross
  • Effective oral and written communication skills in English are required
  • Assist the clinical providers in the oral health management of all patients while following policies and procedures; and as directed by provider
  • Perform expanded function procedures in compliance with the Pennsylvania State Dental Practice Act and under the direct supervision of a dentist. Direct supervision means that a dentist is in the dental office or treatment facility, personally diagnoses the condition to be treated, personally authorizes the procedure and remains in the dental office or treatment facility while the procedure is being performed by the expanded function dental assistant, and, before dismissal of the patient, personally evaluates the work performed by the expanded function dental assistant
  • Prepare operatory for patient treatment as indicated by the clinical schedule and/or Lead Dental Assistant
  • Expose dental radiographs in accordance with state regulations and law
  • Ensure the sterility of all reusable dental instruments and equipment
  • Monitor equipment and perform weekly, monthly, quarterly, and yearly maintenance and regulatory tasks in accordance with manufacturer’s directions and our policies and procedures
  • Maintain all clinical areas in compliance with our directives and protocols as well as our policies and procedures relative to infection control, exposure control and safety issues
  • Perform all functions in full compliance with our Exposure Control Plan including but not limited to the use of Personal Protective Equipment and Universal Precautions
  • Insure the proper disposal of all contaminated or potentially contaminated materials in accordance with state and federal regulation(s)
  • Maintain adequate operatory supplies and compile a list of individual item shortages for inventory control and ordering purposes
  • Monitor patient flow, and assist the providers in assuring that all patient records and documents are properly and accurately completed and processed accordingly
  • Receive and place necessary telephone calls consistent with professional matters, clinic business and patient care, including communication with labs
  • Participate in a teamwork environment by assisting other doctor’s, hygienists, assistants and front desk during down time
  • Attend mandatory meetings scheduled at the office
  • Comprehensive knowledge of dental assisting techniques and procedures for all phases of general dentistry
  • Knowledge of modern dental materials, their storage, handling and applications
  • Ability to attend to multiple tasks at the same time and to prioritize assignments and responsibilities to ensure compliance with established schedule, deadlines and protocols
  • Must be cognizant of the expectations and concerns of our dental patients and be able to respond in an empathetic and professional manner
  • The ability to utilize and/or learn computer skills and systems such as; but not limited to: Dentrix software (or Eaglesoft at ECD), Microsoft Office, Paytime and other systems as needed
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Pay: $23.00 - $26.00 per hour
