Summary

The IT Manager of Business Applications and Infrastructure is a pivotal role at the parent company level, overseeing the technological framework that supports the distinct business units with diverse levels of cloud adoption and various business systems, including ERP and financial reporting capabilities. This position demands a highly technical individual who can not only set strategic directions but also provide hands-on support and guidance to each business unit, ensuring the effective and efficient use of business applications and cloud services.

Primary Responsibilities

Strategic IT Leadership

  • Hands-On IT Operations Management and Infrastructure Oversight: Take an active, hands-on role in overseeing the IT operations across all business units. This involves a detailed understanding of each unit's unique mix of cloud and on-premises deployments, legacy systems, and ERP migrations. The goal is to ensure smooth, efficient IT operations that support each unit's daily activities and long-term objectives.
  • Operational Partnership with Business Units: Act as a key operational partner, working closely with each business unit to understand their specific IT challenges and needs. Provide tailored operational solutions and support that align with both the unit's goals and the broader objectives of the parent company, ensuring technology serves as a enabler rather than a barrier.
  • Facilitator of System Integration and Modernization: Lead efforts in system integration and the modernization of legacy systems with a hands-on approach. Focus on enhancing data interoperability and streamlining operations through the strategic application of technology, guiding business units through the complexities of upgrading their IT infrastructures.
  • Tactical Advisor and Support Specialist: Serve as the primary point of contact for operational IT advice and support within the conglomerate. Offer expertise in tactical IT planning and execution, ensuring that each business unit has the operational guidance and support needed to tackle their unique technological challenges.

Vendor and Contract Management

  • Strategic Vendor Negotiations and Relationships: Spearhead negotiations with technology vendors and service providers to secure advantageous group pricing and terms that deliver value across the entire conglomerate. Build and maintain strategic relationships with these partners to ensure the conglomerate's long-term technology needs are met efficiently and cost-effectively.
  • Leading Delivery Teams for IT Services: Take an active role in leading and coordinating delivery teams from our technology partners, ensuring the seamless execution of IT services across all business units. This involves not just overseeing, but directly managing the performance of external teams to align with our operational standards and project goals.
  • Performance and SLA Compliance: Rigorously monitor and manage vendor performance against agreed service level agreements (SLAs) and quality benchmarks. Implement regular review processes to assess vendor delivery and ensure compliance with our high standards, taking corrective action as necessary to address any performance issues.
  • Collaborative Project Management: Work closely with both internal stakeholders and external delivery teams to manage IT projects from inception to completion. Ensure that projects are delivered on time, within scope, and budget, while maintaining the quality and security standards expected by the conglomerate.

Expanded Responsibilities

Cloud Infrastructure and Services Optimization

  • Guide the transition to and utilization of cloud services, identifying opportunities for cost savings, improved efficiency, and enhanced scalability. Advise on cloud architecture and service models (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS) best suited for each business unit's needs.

Business Systems Integration and Management

  • Oversee the selection, deployment, and integration of key business systems, including ERP, CRM, and financial reporting tools. Ensure these systems are tailored to support the unique processes and objectives of each business unit while facilitating interconnectivity and data sharing across the enterprise.

Technology Innovation and Digital Transformation

  • Champion innovation and digital transformation initiatives, exploring new technologies and digital practices that can drive business growth, improve customer experiences, and streamline operations.

IT Infrastructure and Security

  • Provide strategic direction for the development and maintenance of a robust IT infrastructure that supports business operations and protects against cyber threats. This includes network architecture, data storage solutions, and comprehensive cybersecurity measures.

Stakeholder Engagement and Communication

  • Foster strong relationships with key stakeholders within each business unit and at the executive level. Communicate effectively about technology strategies, project progress, and outcomes, ensuring alignment and buy-in across the organization.

Capability Building and Knowledge Sharing

  • Lead efforts to build IT capabilities within the parent company and its subsidiaries, including training and development programs for IT staff. Promote knowledge sharing and best practices in technology management across the conglomerate.

Qualifications

Professional Experience

  • Minimum of 8-10 years of progressive experience in IT management roles, with a strong focus on business applications, cloud infrastructure, and technology strategy development.
  • Proven track record of successfully managing IT operations and strategic initiatives across multiple business units or companies.
  • Extensive experience in vendor management, including negotiating contracts and managing service level agreements (SLAs).
  • Demonstrated ability in implementing and managing enterprise-wide IT governance and compliance frameworks.

Technical Expertise

  • Deep understanding of cloud computing (IaaS, PaaS, SaaS), including architecture, migration strategies, and cost optimization.
  • Expertise in business systems integration, including ERP, CRM, and financial reporting tools.
  • Solid foundation in IT infrastructure, network security, and data protection principles.
  • Familiarity with modern software development practices and technology trends.

Leadership and Interpersonal Skills

  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to inspire, motivate, and guide teams towards achieving strategic objectives.
  • Analytical and problem-solving abilities, capable of making data-driven decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the proficiency to articulate complex technical information to non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborative team player with experience in managing cross-functional projects and initiatives.

Certifications (desirable but not essential)

IT Service Management:

  • Industry-recognized certifications, such as ITIL (Information Technology Infrastructure Library), signify expertise in IT service management best practices, crucial for ensuring efficient and effective IT operations.

Cloud Technology Certifications:

  • Certifications in cloud technology, including AWS Certified Solutions Architect, Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate, and Google Cloud Certified - Professional Cloud Architect, highlight capabilities in designing, managing, and optimizing cloud infrastructure and applications.

On-Premises Infrastructure Certifications:

Focused on traditional data center and on-premises infrastructure, certifications like VMware Certified Professional - Data Center Virtualization (VCP-DCV) demonstrate proficiency in VMware virtualization and infrastructure management. Networking certifications such as Cisco's CCNA or CCNP showcase foundational to advanced networking skills, while Microsoft Certified: Windows Server indicates expertise in managing Windows-based server environments.
