Position Summary & Description

THIS POSITION IS POSTED IN ACCORDANCE WITH THE
AFSCME COLLECTIVE BARGAINING UNIT
Indiana University of Pennsylvania (IUP) invite applicants for an Management Technician in the Department of University Advancement.
The Management Technician reports to the Program Manager in the Office of Alumni and Constituent engagement to provide day to day tactical support for events, technical support for the online community, and data collection and assessment. The Manager Technician supports the university’s efforts to engage with alumni to gain support in recruitment efforts, providing internship and job opportunities, financial support, and advocating for the advancement of IUP. The Manager Technician supports the technical use of the online community, the alumni website, and supports university advancement in the collection and maintenance of data, evaluating data and understanding data queries and segmentation as it relates to communications in the division and with our campus partners. This individual must have complete working knowledge of various computer software applications including Adobe InDesign, Blackbaud Raisers Edge, Microsoft Office, Cascade.

Position Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Knowledge of the basic principles and practices and the respective standards of measurement applied within a management discipline.
  • Knowledge of modern office practices and equipment.
  • Knowledge of basic PC hardware and standard software.
  • Ability to use a PC to collect, compile, and assemble data and reports for use in the conduct of studies.
  • Ability to analyze varied data by applying the information against interpretive standards in the formulation of recommended action.
  • Ability to perform detailed work involving written information by preparing reports of finding according to the appropriate standards of content, clarity, grammar, and format.
  • Ability to identify problems and recognize appropriate solutions as a result of the analysis of data.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with employees, programs officials, job applicants and the public by relating the purpose of the contact and collecting all the necessary information required for the analysis.
  • Ability to apply and adapt established procedures to the preparation and formulation of study findings.
  • Ability to learn the basic principles and practices of public administration.
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate orally in English.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates in the performance of work.
Minimum Education and Training
  • Three years of advanced clerical or paraprofessional work which included the collection, recording, compilation, and presentation of office management or program related information; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training. An Associate's Degree may be substituted for two years of required experience.
Candidates must communicate effectively and perform well in the interview(s).
Candidates must have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues, and community members.
The salary for this position is determined by the AFSCME Collective Bargaining Agreement. External applicants will be offered the minimum rate of pay for this position which is $44,010.00 annually.

Essential Functions

The work of this position occurs in a typical office environment. Although infrequent, periods of heavy exertion may occur. Incumbent must have the following abilities:

  • Ability to travel to field locations and meeting/training sites by motor vehicle when required.
  • Communicate both orally and in writing to issue, receive and carry out instructions and orders effectively and to convey information to a variety of co-workers and the general public
  • Use a variety of common office machines such as telephones, calculators, copiers, computer terminals, keyboards, video display terminals, auxiliary printers and similar equipment.
  • Perform manual duties such as lifting and carrying various weight limits.
  • Operate office equipment which may require stooping, kneeling, bending, stretching and prolonged standing.
  • Provide assistance and guidance to internal and external customers.
  • Follow oral and written instructions
