The Hall Coordinator, a master’s degree required position, provides direct oversight to graduate and undergraduate live-in staff (graduate/undergraduate assistant hall directors, resident assistants, social justice educators, and front desk/customer service operations). They actively participate in hiring decisions, facilitate staff training, enforce policies, manage crises, foster student development, and ensure the safety and security of the community. Additionally, they collaborate with the Area Coordinator and other staff to uphold the Code of Student Conduct, manage occupancy-related administrative tasks, engage with residents, and contribute to the development and implementation of residential curricular approaches.
Crafted to cultivate exceptional skills during and up to four-year tenure, the Hall Coordinator role embodies a practitioner-scholar approach, offering guidance and support in vital areas such as self-efficacy, inclusive excellence, and professional growth. Utilizing platforms such as StarRez and Roompact, Hall Coordinators establish meaningful connections with residents, nurturing a positive and inclusive living environment. They also contribute significantly to instructional efforts by teaching first-year transition and student leadership courses for credit.
In addition to instructional and supervisory duties, Hall Coordinators provide guidance on conflict mediation, effective communication, community engagement, and global awareness. They oversee administrative tasks related to occupancy management, facilities maintenance, desk operations, and emergency on-call response, ensuring the seamless functioning of residential communities.
Beyond these responsibilities, Hall Coordinators actively participate in university committees dedicated to enhancing academic, co-curricular, and experiential learning experiences for residential students. Through collaborative efforts, they strive to create an environment conducive to the holistic development and success of each student within the residential communities. The position operates under a four-year cap and does not require annual reappointment.
