No ISU employee (whether paid or a volunteer) shall knowingly influence others to furnish the NCAA or an ISU investigator/compliance officer false or misleading information concerning an individual’s involvement in or knowledge of matters relevant to a possible violation of an NCAA regulation. Failure to abide by this term of employment shall constitute unethical conduct as defined by the NCAA and may result in immediate suspension and/or termination of the employment relationship with ISU.
Responsible for the overall instruction of the student-athletes on how to best perform in their sport. This includes training, teaching, and conditioning student-athletes in preparation for all contests. Plan and supervise practices, prepare competition strategies and coach the team at contests. Will work closely with the Strength and Conditioning coaches as well as athletic training staffs to develop a year-long program of conditioning and injury prevention.
Develop a comprehensive plan to identify, evaluate and recruit high quality student-athletes to Indiana State University. This includes, but is not limited to, phone contacts, in-person evaluations, home visits, and student-athlete visits to campus. Must maintain accurate records, per NCAA rules, of all recruitment activities for himself/herself and all of his/her assistant coaches.
Complete a wide variety of administrative tasks including scheduling practices and contests, recruiting logs, providing rosters and other paperwork to various offices for NCAA compliance issues, team travel plans, media guide development, etc.
Administer a budget developed in collaboration with his/her sport supervisor, the Sr. Assoc AD and finalized by the AD. This includes, but is not limited to, purchasing and tracking equipment and uniform inventory, monitoring travel and recruiting expenses and staying within the allotted budget.
Create an atmosphere and culture that is a reflection of the missions of both the Athletic Department and the University. A positive student-athlete experience on and off the court is a number one priority of the coaching staff and administration. This includes monitoring academic performance, graduation rates, study hall, class attendance, and the overall mental health and wellness of all student-athletes. Responsible for the behavior and appearance of student-athletes and managers under his/her direction while they are representing Indiana State University.
Responsible for hiring, evaluation, and supervision of assistant coaches. They should provide mentoring, guidance and oversight of assistants in all aspects of administering and managing a Division I program.
The Head Coach will be expected to participate in fundraising activities for both the general Athletic Department and the Women’s Basketball program. The Head Coach will be expected to establish and maintain a good relationship with the Women’s Basketball alumni and assist in various alumni activities/events. Participate in community relations activities both as an individual and with student-athletes. This includes clinics, speaking engagements, and volunteer efforts with local organizations.
Rules Compliance is a central element in personnel matters for employees within the Department of Athletics and for those employees outside the Department of Athletics who are involved in NCAA rules compliance activities. These individuals must comply with all NCAA rules on compliance and will be evaluated on that basis.
