General Statement of Duties:

The Quality Director provides strategic, operational, and thought leadership to support OrthoIndy goals. The Director is responsible for the development, implementation, and execution of the Quality Assessment, Performance Improvement, Risk Management, and Education programs. The Director will work directly with colleagues to develop, measure, and monitor outcomes that are meaningful in measuring quality and safety within the OrthoIndy system. The position facilitates, directs, and influences the alignment of clinical quality goals, patient safety goals, and educational goals to meet the needs of our patients and staff members and is responsible for the oversight of the patient safety program. The Director is responsible for the facilitation of onsite regulatory surveys, assisting leaders with keeping up with regulatory changes, such as with HFAP/ ISDH etc., and compliance with regulations.

Essential Duties:

  1. Responsible for the development, implementation and execution of the Quality Assessment and Performance Improvement Programs, including; reviewing and analyzing metrics, creating PI projects, and assisting with PI projects. Produces reports to various committees to ensure ongoing discussions related to quality outcomes and performance improvement initiatives, including; updates to Medical Executive Committee, QA Committee and Chairperson, and peer review when appropriate.
  2. Provides department and employee specific oversight to positions and programs including; risk management, education and patient safety. Provides direction and support with program goal development, engagement with corporate objectives, and employee performance and development.
  3. Works collaboratively with colleagues to colleagues to develop, measures, and monitor outcomes that are meaningful in measuring quality and safety within the OrthoIndy system. Facilitates, directs, and influences the alignment of clinical quality goals, patient safety goals, and educational goals to meet the needs of our patients and staff members.
  4. Provides strategic, operational and thought leadership to support the OrthoIndy Goals.
  5. Assists with patient and visitor events, root cause analysis related to an unexpected outcome, assisting with annual planning for the risk program, including; working closely with legal services to meet the needs of the risk program.
  6. Provides leadership oversight for the Quality department, including; the development of departmental goals, administrative budgetary oversight, and employee engagement. Responsible for the selection, training, and ongoing development of departmental personnel. Conducts performance appraisals and recommends merit increases, promotions, disciplinary actions and candidate hiring.
  7. Facilitates regulatory compliance with relation to ISDH and HFAP standards and any onsite survey events.
  8. Completes the budget for the department and monitors adherence to that budget. Provides feedback to leaders and accounting regarding the budget variances.

Requirements:

  • Master's Degree (M.A./M.S.) or equivalent in related field required
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license required
  • 6-8 years of related experience required, 8-10 years of experience preferred
