What You’ll Do

Manage and operate state-of-the-art audio-visual equipment for classrooms, events, and performances

Responsible for installation and maintenance of AV equipment, electronic equipment or instruments; Utilizes power tools such as hammer drills, screw gun, reciprocating saws and circular saws safely and have experience and knowledge in soldering, crimping and captive screw terminations. Determines safe equipment mounting methods/solutions to properly install, position or mount and wire speakers, televisions, projectors or projection screens of various sizes to the ceiling or wall. Installs and runs low voltage infrastructure cabling in accordance with industry, construction and IRSC standards.

Provide technical support and troubleshooting expertise to ensure flawless audio and visual presentations.

Collaborate with faculty, staff, and students to enhance teaching and learning through innovative AV solutions.

Stay up-to-date with emerging technologies and industry trends to continually improve our AV services.

Maintain and repair AV equipment to keep our facilities running smoothly.

JOB SUMMARY:

Under minimal supervision, this position installs and maintains AV equipment (i.e. video over IP encoders and decoders, audio mixers, amplifiers, speakers, microphones, HDBT transmitters and receivers, lecture capture devices, cameras, control user interfaces, control processors, video switchers, projectors, smartboards, conferencing interfaces, media players and projection screens). Uses proprietary configuration software and web interfaces for a variety of AV equipment; Setups, configures, and operates audio and video equipment for live events, large and small. Trains internal and external customers to operate IRSC AV equipment; as well as Content creation for digital signage and events.

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

· Understands and applies proprietary configuration software and web interfaces for a variety of AV devices, (i.e. classroom cameras, video switchers, Video over IP encoders and decoders, media players, audio mixers/amplifiers, HDBT transmitters and receivers etc.).

· Responsible for installation and maintenance of AV equipment, electronic equipment or instruments; Utilizes power tools such as hammer drills, screw gun, reciprocating saws and circular saws safely and have experience and knowledge in soldering, crimping and captive screw terminations. Determines safe equipment mounting methods/solutions to properly install, position or mount and wire speakers, televisions, projectors or projection screens of various sizes to the ceiling or wall. Installs and runs low voltage infrastructure cabling in accordance with industry, construction and IRSC standards.

· Coordinates and designs AV systems per customer needs for special events; Sets up and tests all system equipment before event; Operates equipment professionally and proficiently to AV dept standards during the event; Breaks down and organizes equipment for neat and efficient removal after event.

· Monitors and maintains AV equipment to provide maximum performance remotely and in person; Troubleshoots to identify issues quickly. Repairs or replaces equipment / connectivity as necessary.

· Maintains college equipment inventory using web and app-based inventory software provided by AV dept. using phone or tablet.

· Assists with equipment research, evaluation and provides input on the purchase of new equipment; Makes specific equipment lists for project quotes and implementation. Composes signal flow charts, room floor plans and elevations.

· Trains internal and external customers to operate IRSC AV equipment.

· Provides basic computerized graphic design for presentation assistance/ editing, digital signage design, special event signage.

· Completes other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS, KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS:

· Associate’s degree from an accredited institution or Minimum of four (4) years proven Commercial AV integration experience. (Bachelor's degree preferred).

· Must be able to climb and work from ladder and scissor lift.

· Must have knowledge and skills to use power tools safely and properly.

· Experienced and confident with the operation of AV systems, (i.e. video over IP encoders and decoders, audio mixers, amplifiers, speakers, microphones, HDBT transmitters and receivers, lecture capture devices, cameras, control user interfaces, control processors, video switchers, projectors, smartboards, conferencing interfaces, media players and projection screens)

· Proven knowledge in the proper handling and maintenance of electronic equipment.

· Proven knowledge of small and large public address systems.

· Willing and able to operate AV testing equipment; use power tools; comfortable using a tape measure, creating and interpreting dimensions; working at heights using ladders, lifts and other heavy machinery; comfortable driving a van or box truck.

· Be proficient in the use of soldering, crimping and terminating of wires for various AV equipment deployment.

· Possess a basic to advanced understanding of structural engineering or construction methods, geometry and physics.

· Ability to remain focused and productive while working under stress and meeting deadlines.

· Customer service focused.

· Must exercise good judgment and strong work ethic

· Strong organization and communication skills – both verbal and written.

· Ability to work independently and be self-motivated.

· Ability to think creatively either individually or in a group setting to solve problems quickly

· Ability to deal diplomatically with individuals from diverse backgrounds, including the public, faculty, staff, administrators, and students.

· Possess a valid Florida driver’s license.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

This position requires an ability to sit, stand, walk, bend, lift, reach up, fully squat, stoop, or kneel and carry items occasionally in excess of fifty (50) pounds. It also requires manual dexterity to operate standard office machines, such as, copier, fax, telephone, and other equipment as necessary. Indian River State College expects its employees to follow proper safety standards while employed by the College.
