INDIAN RIVER COUNTY HEALTHY START COALITION is Hiring a Director of Finance Near Vero Beach, FL

Purpose of Position:

Direct financial oversight of the Coalition. Oversee and support programs funded by the different funding sources. The Director of Finance is responsible for all funded programs to ensure compliance. This position will play a crucial role in managing the financial aspects of the organization, ensuring transparency, compliance, and efficient financial operations. Works closely with the Leadership Team in strategic planning and supporting of programs for effective services.

Responsibilities include but not limited to the following:

  • Ensures all programmatic and funding contracts and subcontracts are adhered to
  • Managing the annual cycle of grant applications and reporting. Assure accurate and timely submission of full financials
  • Oversee day-to-day financial activities, including budgeting, accounting, and financial reporting
  • Implement and maintain financial policies and procedures to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and internal controls
  • Collaborate with department directors, CEO and board to develop annual budgets and financial forecasts
  • Process invoices, ensure timely payments, and manages vendor relationships
  • Monitor receivables and work with relevant teams to ensure timely collection
  • Monitor budget performance and provide regular reports to the leadership team and BOD
  • Assists with preparing the financial program reports monthly and quarterly reports for CEO, board, and funders (presentation when necessary)
  • Ensures intuitive storage of all electronic and physical monthly, quarterly and yearly reports to guarantee transparency (state and federal contracts and local grant management and subcontracts)
  • Developing external relationships with appropriate contacts, e.g. statutory organizations such as the Department of Health and Department of Children and Families and other entities
  • Attend fundraising events, board meetings, community meetings and networking events when needed
  • Adhere to all policies of the Coalition and subcontractors
  • Coordinate with external CPA firm and auditors and ensure a smooth audit process
  • Stay informed about changes in financial regulations and ensure the organization’s compliance
  • Work closely with all program leads to provide financial insights and support organizational goals
  • Collaborate with fund development team to align financial strategies with fundraising efforts
  • other duties as assigned

Qualifications, Training and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or related field; CPA or relevant certification a plus
  • Proven experience in nonprofit financial management
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles, financial reporting and budgeting
  • Experience with grant management and reporting
  • Proficient in financial software and tools
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and thoughtfulness

  • Work well within a team environment

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $68,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
