Senior Planner / Planner - Current Development
Senior Planner: $67,830.10 - $101,745.80 AnnuallyPlanner: $61,508.20 - $92,263.34 Annually
This position involves the use of planning skills and expertise in both independent and team settings. Responsibilities will focus on development project review, although cross-training and other responsibilities may involve a variety of planning tasks. This is a fully trained professional position in the Planning Division.
Education and Experience:
Senior Planner: Master’s degree in Planning or a closely related field from an accredited university supplemented with two years of professional planning experience; or Bachelor’s degree in Planning and a minimum of 5 years of direct planning experience.
Planner: Master’s degree in Planning or a closely related field from an accredited university, or a Bachelor’s degree in Planning and a minimum of 2 years of direct planning experience, or a Bachelor's degree in Geography, Public Policy, or closely related field from an accredited university and a minimum of 3 years of direct planning experience.
Licenses, Certifications or Registrations:
Knowledge, Abilities and Skills:
Knowledge of standard planning principles and practices.
Knowledge of development review.
Knowledge of economics, municipal finance, and sociology as applied to public planning. Knowledge of and experience with ARC Info/ARC view and other widely used office software.
Ability to present ideas and findings clearly and concisely in both written and oral form to a community at large, Board members, stakeholders, and other audiences.
Ability to establish effective working relationships with division heads, outside agencies, and the general public.
Ability to direct and participate in complex planning studies or elements thereof, and to analyze information and formulate substantive recommendations based upon such studies.
Ability to interpret laws, rules, and regulations relative to County planning.
Ability to direct work of others and present ideas and findings clearly and concisely in written, oral, or graphic form.
Ability to operate cameras/photo equipment.
Typing/keyboard skills.
