Indian Health Service is Hiring a Clinical Psychologist Near Rosebud, SD

This position is being re-advertised to solicit additional applications. Applicant who applied previously need not reapply unless submitting updated and/or missing information.
This position is located in the Rosebud Service unit located in Rosebud, SD to provide direct clinical services to eligible American Indian clients and their families.

Qualifications:

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
OPM Link: Psychology Series 0180 (opm.gov)
Degree: major or equivalent in psychology for all specializations except clinical psychology and counseling psychology. These two specializations have additional educational requirements, as stated below:

Clinical psychology: For positions at grades GS-11 and above, satisfactory completion of all the requirements for the doctoral degree (Ph.D. or equivalent) directly related to full professional work in clinical psychology is required.

In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

GS-13:
One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 grade level.

Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector performing the following type of work and/or tasks: Work as a psychologist in a mental health setting clinic or hospital while providing psychological evaluations, delivering therapeutic mental health treatment modalities for patients. Provide consultation, collaboration and follow up. Assist and refer patients with acute, chronic or severe mental illnesses and dual diagnosis patient populations; possess alcohol and drug/co-occurring disorders experience. Use an electronic health record for patients.

Selective Placement Factor (SPF): Must possess an active, current, unrestricted, state license as a Clinical Psychologist.

Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).

You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.

Responsibilities:

  • Providing the full range of psychological services for both inpatient (medical, surgical and substance disorders) and outpatient who have emotional or family relations problems; acute or chronic mentally disturbed patients; mentally handicapped, and patients who are exhibiting unsatisfactory personal adjustments.
  • Administers and interprets psychological tests and completes psychological data concerning children and adults.
  • Responsible for the psychological treatment of the patient, referring medical problems to a medical officer.
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of comprehensive and continuing mental health programs and projects.
  • Participate in community programs that have applications to improve mental and emotional health.
