POSITION SUMMARY:

The press assistant is responsible for helping operate the presses and help with daily maintenance items on the presses.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Thoroughly reads and understands the job ticket, recognizing and reporting any mistakes or discrepancies.
• Prepares and inspects paper prior to running.
• Pulls plate files for daily jobs, and inspects and mounts plates as required.
• Sets up feeder and feed board, and keeps feeder running to ensure efficient press operation.
• Assists with makeready operations and press wash‑up as directed by press operator.
• Completes various duties during press run, including loading stock, filling solutions and inks, changing blankets.
• Assists operator as necessary to ensure that quality and registration are maintained.
• Cleans blanket and impression cylinders, and performs all necessary wash‑up procedures.
• Performs all necessary maintenance work such as periodic oiling or adjustments.
• Keeps required supplies at a consistent level.
• Aids in identifying defective materials.
• Seeks detailed instructions and technical assistance from Supervisors when there are questions related to job ticket instructions.
• Demonstrates responsibility for the quality and quantity of the work produced.
• Works amicably and in cooperation with all Supervisors and coworkers.
• Stores all flammable materials in fireproof cabinets at the day's end.
• Trains other employees as needed.
• Reports to Supervisors any errors or problems with orders or equipment.
• Is knowledgeable of and follows safety procedures.

• Self-motivated with a team player mentality
• Strong and effective communication and capable of taking direction and working autonomously
• Proven success maintaining high production rates and quality standards
• Detail oriented

SCHEDULE:

Full-time, Hourly, Rotating every other week between 1st and 2nd shift:

1st Shift: 6 am-2 pm & 2nd Shift: 2 pm-10pm

STARTING WAGE:

This is an hourly position and beginning wage will be in line with experience.
