Description

Independent Living, Inc., a progressive and dynamic cross-disability services organization and a leader in the provision of peer services in the Hudson Valley is seeking to hire a Director of Finance

In this role you’ll be responsible, along with the Chief Financial Officer, for the financial health of Independent Living. You’ll also supervise a team of accounting professionals while handling day-to-day operational responsibilities within the fiscal department. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership and analytical skills as well as the ability to multitask and meet deadlines.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Finalize the close of books monthly – including the preparation of journal entries and scanning related support into QuickBooks.
  • Assist in performing variance analysis on the monthly P&L; print budget vs. actual, year over year, and month over month, by funding source and by Agency. 
  • Compile the financial package distributed to the Board of Directors and Chief Executive Officer
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual reports to various funding sources.
  • Grants Management processing and Billing for reimbursement.
  • Maintain Deferred Revenue amortization reports.
  • Post journal entries (shared responsibility with others in the Fiscal group).
  • Allocation of Administrative costs to Programs.
  • Maintain fixed asset and leased equipment schedules, amortization schedules, and prepaid expense schedules.
  • Maintain long term debt and line of credit schedules.
  • Support Payroll and Billing and A/P functions, as needed.
  • Support annual audit process by preparing schedules and reviewing accounts for accuracy.
  • Print monthly the monthly Journal entries report for CFO sign-off.
  • Review and sign-off on all Bank reconciliations.
  • Assist in preparation of the annual Consolidated Fiscal Report (CFR) and annual Medicaid Cost reports.
  • Assist in the preparation and maintenance of budgets, operational and cash flow projection reports.
  • Assist the CFO with policy creation and implementation.
  • Represent the Fiscal Department at Board or Finance Committee meetings as needed.
  • Supervise Staff Accountant, Bookkeeper & Fiscal Grant Administrator
  • Special projects as needed.
  • Other fiscal related matters as required by the needs of the agency, always maintaining fiscal integrity.

SHIFT:

  • Monday through Friday 9am-5pm, flexibility based on the needs of the agency.

PAY RATE:

  • $85k/yr-$90k/yr

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills, a must.
  • Excellent written and verbal presentation skills.
  • Supervision of 4 to 5 staff.
  • Attention to detail and excellent organizational skills. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting with 4-6 years of accounting experience. 
  • Proficiency with Quick Books, Excel, budgeting and General Ledger.
  • CPA/MBA a plus.
  • Non-Profit experience, a plus.
  • Public accounting experience, a plus.
