Overview

The System Administrator-Intermediate will be responsible for the administration of the IBM AS/400, PBD IT infrastructure and 3rd party software and applications. This will include software packages and performing system configuration changes, evaluation of software packages, and maintaining the PBD hardware environment. The System Administrator-Intermediate will configure software applications to meet user needs and write custom programs to streamline workflows. They will work with IT teams and personnel on projects and initiatives.

Qualifications
  • Associates degree required. Bachelor's degree preferred. An additional two (2) years of experience will be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Four (4) years of experience administering AS/400 system including its file management and associated hardware and 3rd party software packages within a networked infrastructure required.
  • Experience with both relational and non-relational database management required, to include DB2 and SQL.
  • Knowledge of various programming languages such as RPG, CL, Cobol, SQL required. Java and JavaScript are a plus.
  • Experience managing software applications using containerized technologies preferred.
  • Experience in various IT disciplines and technology platforms including major aspects of operations, systems development and architecture, database administration, and systems analysis and design.
  • Initiates self-directed learning opportunities, identifies applicability, and demonstrates initiative-taking use of the acquired skills.
Essential Accountabilities

As part of the overall team, perform system management and administration of the AS/400 system and support of its 3rd party applications to include performance tuning, monitoring upgrades, and enhancements.

Core Products Administration

  • Provide technical support for core packages.
  • Implement and enforce standards for core products.
  • Maintain statistics to validate performance.
  • Provide management and audit reporting for core products such as scheduling systems.

Software

  • Follow software development lifecycle best practices.
  • Responsible for applying the system software updates.

Hardware

  • Interact with vendors.
  • Maintain hardware inventory and tracking.
  • Plan, document, and implement hardware changes.
  • Support operations in hardware problem resolution.

Ability to develop, modify, and support batch extracts and APIs using various programming languages.

Support backup and recovery standards and ensure the highest level of systems and infrastructure availability. Implement system automation as required for better efficiency.

Participate in problem resolution and management support.

  • Coordinate 3rd party vendor toward resolution.
  • Research customer inquiries/problems.
  • Support other technical teams.

Provide customer support to internal and external users and key stakeholders.

  • Serve as primary liaison between customer and IT.
  • Support and coordinate the implementation of new workloads.
  • Maintain service level agreements and measurements.

Adherence to defined configuration, change, and problem management (and all other IT Service Management) processes.

Provide support to assist in the resolution of technology-related incidents.

Create and maintain appropriate technology, process, configuration, and related procedural documentation.

Performance of on-call support duties as required.

Hiring Compensation Range: $80,000 - $100,000 annually

Compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to skills, education, location and experience.

In addition to base compensation, associates may be eligible for a scorecard incentive, full range of benefits and generous paid time off. The base salary range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
