Summer Drivers for Upward Bound Program (Internal Only)

Independence Community College (ICC) seeks applications for the positions of Summer Drivers for the Upward Bound Program. Upward Bound is funded 100% by the U.S. Department of Education.

Position Summary

Drivers (2) will be responsible for transporting Upward Bound students and staff on various trips and report to the Director of Upward Bound and other Upward Bound staff. This is a seasonal, temporary position that requires working all of the following days:

Friday, 05/31 (roundtrip daytime)

Friday, 06/07 (roundtrip daytime)

Friday, 06/14 (roundtrip daytime)

Friday, 06/21 (roundtrip daytime)

Sunday, 07/07 (roundtrip afternoon/evening)

Thursday, 07/11 (leaving evening)

Friday, 07/12 (returning early morning)

The drivers will be responsible for transporting roughly 8-12 high school students and 1-2 Upward Bound chaperones per van, as well as checking out, gassing up, and returning the vans before and after use.

Compensation

$1,200, less taxes, per driver

Qualifications

· Must have a valid driver’s license

· Must be able to safely drive a 15-passenger van

· Must have no DUI conviction in past three years

· Prefer a person comfortable working around high school students

· This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods of time. It also requires constant hand grasp and finger dexterity; repetitive leg and arm movements; occasional bending; and reaching forward, side‐to‐side, downward, and overhead

· Specific vision abilities required by this job include night vision and the ability to adjust focus

· The ability to communicate clearly with small or large groups of people, with an excellent comprehension of the English language, is essential

· Provide own transportation to and from campus, and appropriate licensing to operate college vehicles

· Provide own cell phone and calling plan
