Summary and Scope

Engages in activities that support and promote the goals, mission, and strategic direction of the IBC Foundation - Institute for Health Equity. The Institute promotes systems-level change through multidisciplinary collaborative partnerships in four primary focus areas: Maternal Health Equity, Digital Health Equity, Cultural Competence in Medicine, and Research. Incumbent will have a thorough understanding of corporate and strategic philanthropy. Must be capable of developing and executing Institute activities and research and operationalizing strategy by leveraging relationships and utilizing public health experience and community health awareness. Working with Institute and Foundation Leadership; the incumbent will:

Duties

·Evaluate and develop new initiatives for potential Institute activity or grant programs

·Communicate with high level executives and leaders across multiple industries and organizations

·Evaluate opportunities to fund research and make recommendation to leadership

·Look for opportunities to further the Institute’s and the Foundation’s work by building or expanding health care capacity within the Foundations program areas

·Combine effective strategies, forge partnerships, and manage existing relationships to develop new models for effective care

·Assist in planning major high-profile events and coordinating with planning, creative, and communications teams

·Evaluate initiatives to inform and shape health policy decisions and community investments to address health inequities

·Work on special projects not tied to existing grant or program activities

·Contribute to the continued refinement of functional strategy

·Collaborate with project teams to achieve milestones and objectives

·Anticipate internal and/or external challenges and recommends process or service improvements to leadership.

·Coordinate with recognized experts and regional partners to solves unique and complex problems that have a broad impact on Health Equity

·Operate with broad latitude in a complex environment

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Requires a college degree or equivalent work experience that provides knowledge of and exposure to fundamental theories, principles, and practices.
  • 5 years of relevant experience with corporate or strategic philanthropy.
  • Demonstrated experience operationalizing strategy and building out new initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience communicating and presenting to senior leadership.
  • Demonstrated strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop, maintain, and manage relationships with internal and external partners and stakeholders.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office products and collaborating on shared documents and presentations.
  • Independence has implemented a “Hybrid" model which requires Public Affairs associates to work in the office on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday and remotely on Wednesday and Friday. However, management may require our associates to work from Independence’s physical office locations on certain occasions.While associates may work remotely, the work must be performed in the Tri-State Area of Delaware, New Jersey, or Pennsylvania.
