Associate Director – (East or West) is a field-based management position aligned with a specified geography reporting to the National Director, Oncology Clinical Nurse Educator (OCNE) Team. The primary function includes: coaching, training and mentoring the members of the OCNE team, setting performance expectations for day-to-day activity. The AD is accountable for assigned team performance in alignment with brand strategy and oversight of all activities in accordance with current regulatory and health care compliance guidelines.
Essential Functions Of The Job (Key Responsibilities)
  • Lead a team of Oncology Clinical Nurse Educators (OCNEs) to provide on-label, company approved education to members of the patient care team (Oncology nurses, Advanced Practice providers, Pharmacist, etc.)
  • Foster a creative, innovative, and supportive workplace to develop a high performing team built on trust, transparency and strategic purpose
  • Conducts routine in-person and virtual field visits to observe and provide coaching and direction
  • Support the OCNE in development and maintenance of a strategic territory plan
  • Collaborate on the creation and implementation of OCNE educational and field enablement strategies
  • Collaborate with National Director on the development of annual performance goals and objectives and appropriate measures
  • Provide oversight for team’s training and development, ensuring appropriate training on and execution of educational initiatives aligned with brand strategy across the oncology portfolio
  • Recruits, hires and retains a qualified and diverse work force for the OCNE regional team to support a best in class education team
  • Provide career development support of direct reports, identifying project and internal networking opportunities
  • Participate in the creation/implementation/maintenance of OCNE field collaborative strategies to ensure compliant partnership across all customer facing teams (ex. sales, medical, etc.)
  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of the evolving oncology marketplace and regional ecosystem influences
  • Responsible for timely completion of administrative duties for self and assigned team. Includes but not limited to the following: review and communication of team engagement reports, expense reports, trainings, etc.
  • Utilizes professional, clinical & industry awareness/knowledge to positively impact sales, team, and organizational performance
  • Consistently achieves results and holds “self” accountable for performance
  • Demonstrates ownership and accountability for supporting corporate and senior leadership decisions
Qualifications
  • A minimum of Bachelor’s Degree required, Advanced Degree preferred
  • Active RN license or Advanced Practice License (Nurse Practitioner/CNS) required
  • 10 years of relevant hematology/oncology experience across clinical practice and pharmaceutical setting
  • A minimum of 5 years of disease state and product-related educator experience, with 2 years of senior level experience preferred
  • A minimum of 2 years of pharmaceutical industry or relevant people management
  • An Oncology specific certification preferred
  • Ability to develop strong partnerships and work cross functionally
  • Ability to travel assigned area & overnight at least 50%
  • Ability to work nights & weekends, as needed
  • Experience and relationships with health care providers within assigned region
