Summary

INB is seeking an attorney to join its in-house legal department to provide advice, consultation, direction and assistance with a broad spectrum of legal risks and associated tasks to ensure the Bank meets its legal and regulatory obligations for its customers, officers, shareholders, directors and regulators. This individual should be able to identify substantive legal issues and operational concerns and provide sound, but creative, solutions or improvements for the Bank and its customers.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

• Support and coordinate with the legal department and management in the research, drafting and organization of legal memoranda, pleadings, contracts, presentations and reports.
• Provide guidance/consultation on regulatory matters and compliance related initiatives to ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Engage broadly with colleagues, management and internal audit to support and strengthen the Bank’s risk management functions to mitigate risks related to potential transactions and internal and external relationships. ?
• Support operational units and provide guidance related to consumers and creditors’ rights, including post-default residential, commercial and bankruptcy laws, regulations, policies and procedures.
• Other duties as assigned by the General Counsel.
• Schedule and attend court hearings as necessary.
• Travel may be required.

Required Experience:

Education and/or Experience

• Juris Doctorate (J.D.) Degree from Accredited U. S. Law School required.
• Licensed to practice law in good standing in State of Illinois.
• One (1) to three (3) years of experience in a law firm or state or corporate legal department.
• Experience with real estate transactions, commercial financing, and contract review preferred.

Language Skills

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be proficient in all Microsoft Office programs, with an ability to quickly learn other bank related programs.
