In-Shape Family Fitness is Hiring a District Fitness Manager (Southern California) Near Bakersfield, CA

Description:

LOCATION INFORMATION:

This position will support our locations in Southern California, including Bakersfield, Cathedral City, and Palmdale. The ideal candidate will currently reside within or around these locations.

JOB SUMMARY:

The District Fitness Manager is responsible for the training and development of our Fitness Managers and supports the Director of Fitness and General Managers by supervising the performance of Personal Training Sales and Operations. This position supports Fitness Managers within district while overseeing the Personal Training team member life cycle and reporting and developing budgets, plans, training material, and other data at request of Director of Fitness.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES – WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Train new team members and provide ongoing training, both structured and one on one for all Fitness Managers and Personal Training staff in subjects of Fitness and Training
  • Supervise and evaluate training staff in the area of program quality and Personal Training program quality
  • Support club management with member related Personal Training matters, including member returns and concerns
  • Implement company Personal Training services in a club and off site
  • Conduct Fitness Manager and Personal Trainer meetings as needed
  • Maintain a personal presence at each club through planned and spontaneous visits
  • Manage program effectiveness and success based on revenues, participation, satisfaction and continued interest
  • Assist in the creation of the annual personal training budget
  • Provide daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual reports on company agreed Key Performance Indicators
  • Support club management with payroll and performance management issues
  • Perform personal training sales and sessions as required
  • Support PT Sales and Operations departments in specific, defined company initiatives
  • Promptly and thoroughly review all requested health and safety training provided
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings as needed
  • Perform other tasks as assigned

Requirements:

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS – WHO YOU ARE:

  • College degree in business, retail or hospitality preferred
  • Current Personal Training certification from an approved accredited program required* plus 2 years’ experience in fitness or retail management
    • Four year or advanced degree in related field may be submitted in lieu of personal training certificate
  • Additional course work in physical education, nutrition, physiology, and exercise science is beneficial
  • Multi-location management experience preferred
  • Desired knowledge, experience, and understanding of Fitness including equipment, personal training, and group fitness
  • Availability to work weekends and holidays if needed
  • Strong service orientation and desire to deliver an outstanding member experience
  • Computer literate – proficient at MS Excel, MS Outlook and MS Word
  • Clear and effective written and verbal communication
  • Outstanding organization and strong time management
  • Work quality must be highly accurate, timely, and in accordance with company policy and procedures
  • Excellent task completion and follow-through skills
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, cooperation and ability to work well in team environment
  • Current CPR or ability to pass CPR certification within 60 days of hire date
  • High regard and propensity for safety

WORK ENVIRONMENT/PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the team member is frequently required to walk and stand up to 8 hours/day and/or sitting for extended period of time. Team members may be exposed to cleaning chemicals or airborne particles and will be required to wear designated PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) as directed. Employees are frequently required to use hands and fingers for handle or feel; frequent reach, push and pulling with arms and hands; occasional climb and crouch, frequent balance, stoop, kneel, and crawl; and frequent reach and twist, including side-to-side movements. The team member may be required to occasionally lift, carry or move up to 25-50 pounds and may seldom be required to lift, carry or move 26-50 pounds.
