IMTT is Hiring a Track Operator - Avondale - 6373 Near Avondale, LA

Job Summary

The Truck and Rail Operator position is responsible for safely conducting operational transfers of products throughout the terminal. This position resides at the St. Rose and Avondale terminals.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain product gauges and temperatures.
  • Make product transfer line-ups for all types of products.
  • Load and unload tank trucks and railcars.
  • Blow and pig lines.
  • Maintain operation information such as rate sheets, as directed by Shift Foreman.
  • Assist inspectors/surveyors in field operations.
  • Serve as Dock Operator as needed.
  • Squeegee
  • Perform all duties as assigned by Shift Foreman or Assistant Shift Foreman.
  • Maintain tapes, bobs, thermometers, thermoprobes and perform required accuracy tests.
  • Maintain a working knowledge of all pumps and pipelines in the terminal.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Education and Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Petrochemical experience
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • TWIC (Transportation Workers Identification Credentials) for access to IMTT’s terminal locations.

Skills and Abilities

  • Ability to work independently and effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to work closely with others with a positive attitude and a willingness to help others.
  • Ability to represent IMTT in a professional and positive manner.
  • Compliance with all Company policies and procedures.
  • Good communication skills, both written and oral.
  • Must be able to add or subtract fractions.
  • Ability to learn and adapt in a growing and changing environment

Hours of Work

  • Typical hours of operation are Monday through Friday.
  • This position requires the ability to work rotating shifts and perform overtime and occasional weekend work as job duties demand.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary, sometimes with little or no advance notice.
  • Must be willing and able to work at night, on weekends, and holidays on a regular rotating basis.

  • Because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the employee must be able to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies. The applicant must be able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
  • The large scale of the operation and the extensive layout of the facility require that the employee have the ability to walk and stand on uneven terrain, to climb stairs and ladders, and traverse inclines: uphill, downhill or mixed. Because the facility and adjoining facilities handle hazardous materials, the applicant must be able to ingress and egress in foreseeable emergencies. The applicant must be able to work safely without presenting a direct threat to self or others.
  • Must be able to work in a confined space, work over water, climb stairs and not be afraid of heights. Must be physically able to lift hoses, climb ladders and work over water. Must be capable of wearing respirator and/or other PPE during some operations or emergencies.
  • Ability to wear use a respirator and any other safety equipment.
  • This would require the ability to lift up to 25 pounds, bend, stand, or stoop, as necessary.
  • Ability to perform climbing, bending, stooping, kneeling and moderate lifting.
