Impulse Space is Hiring a Propulsion Technician (Components) Near Redondo, CA

As a Propulsion Technician at Impulse Space you will be responsible for fabrication, assembly and integration of fluid and electrical components and test equipment while working closely with a fast-paced, agile team. You will work daily with Propulsion engineers in the design, development and test of valve components as well as with Test engineers in the build-out and operation of pneumatic, hydraulic, thermal and vibe test stations.

Responsibilities

  • Fabricate, assemble and test fluid, mechanical and electrical components
  • Rapidly iterate solutions for prototype hardware
  • Build and maintain facilities such as machining equipment, clean rooms, and testing assets
  • Work with designers, engineers and technicians to optimize the design of spaceflight hardware

Minimum Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalency certificate
  • 5 years of professional experience in aerospace, motorsports, or other relevant manufacturing field
  • Proficient with basic fabrication tools and processes (electric/pneumatic power tools, tube bending, machining, welding, etc.)
  • Proficient with wiring and electrical systems
  • Proficient with test control equipment (servo valves, PID controller tuning, J-box/panel wiring)
  • Ability to prototype parts and assemblies from basic technical requirements
  • Ability to troubleshoot problems with fluid and electrical systems and implement scrappy solutions

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Prior experience in refrigeration and compressor systems
  • Prior experience with hydraulic test equipment, servo valves and hydraulic skids
  • Prior experience with propulsion and/or fluid system assembly and testing
  • Experience reading and interpreting engineering drawings, an understanding for drawing symbols, flag notes and general notes
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions, read travelers and standard operating procedures
  • Attention to detail and accuracy while working within a fast-paced production environment
Additional Requirements:
  • Flexible schedule and willing to travel as needed
  • Ability to lift 25lbs unassisted

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
