Position Description:

This position is for a motivated individual who is currently in an electro-mechanical or auto-related class. In this position, the successful candidate will learn how to use hand and pneumatic tools to assemble, wire, and install components in commercial, residential, and agricultural waste-hauling tanks. To excel in this role, the candidate should be willing to learn to pull wires, install wiring harnesses and terminate wires in fuse boxes, run conduit, and install switches. The student will also learn to install pumps, toolboxes, valves, running lights, and taillights, align PTOs, install hydraulics and hydraulic lines, and test equipment. A steady hand, natural motivation, positive attitude/aptitude, and outstanding attention to detail are recommended. Please note that this position is part-time for students only.

Responsibilities:

Assist Commercial Truck Assembler with gathering and positioning materials and parts according to assembly documentation or verbal instruction.

Safely operate various equipment such as hand and pneumatic tools, material handling equipment, and overhead cranes.

Learn to identify a defect and make necessary repairs.

Learn how to assemble equipment to specifications.

Maintain and repair all machinery and perform daily housekeeping.

Follow strict safety regulations such as wearing protective gloves, protective eyewear, and safety shoes.

Monitor machinery for appropriate usage and temperature.

Learn how to repair and do warranty work on used equipment.

Perform all other duties assigned.

Requirements:

High school diploma, equivalent qualification, or working towards one.

Learn to read and understand blueprints and read a tape measure.

Learn to interpret technical plans and drawings.

Willingness to be mentored and accept constructive feedback.

Learn how to troubleshoot and make product operational.

Practice good housekeeping by keeping floors swept and work area tidy.

Solid verbal and written skills with the ability to communicate effectively.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Ability to work with minimum supervision and to stay on task.

Maintain accurate work and good levels of concentration.

Ability to work in a team environment and also to be mentored.

Flexible and eager to learn how to successfully perform in a fast-paced environment.
